While most of the official government investigation into UFO's has been done by either the Air Force or the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has occasionally gotten called in to check out unusual phenomena. The FBI is not as secret with their information as popular television and conspiracies would make them out to be. In fact, one section of their website, known as "The Vault," holds a vast amount of publicly available documents for anyone to peruse. Among the sections on such diverse interests as Civil Rights, Counter-Terrorism, Gangs and Extremist Groups, Organized Crime, and a host of others is a section labeled "Unexplained Phenomena." It is here that one can find many records on the various investigations the FBI has on UFO's.

One particular page has drawn a great deal of interest lately. It is a copy of a memo sent to the Director from Special Agent Guy Hottel, Head of the Washington Field Office, on March 22, 1950. It is in reference to a report that he had gotten from an Air Force informant about what they had recovered at the Roswell, New Mexico crash site in 1947. Realize this memo only states what was reported to the FBI through an informant. Mr. Hottel does not vouch for the truth of the report, merely that these were the stated facts.

The Air Force investigator is not identified but what he reports was that the Air Force had recovered three flying saucers from New Mexico. The report states that each craft contained three occupants, humanoid but only about three feet tall. The approximate 50-foot diameter of the craft is consistent with many flying saucer reports. One thing left out of public reports at the time is the interesting conjecture that a Government high-powered radar set-up was believed to be the cause for the saucers to crash in the first place.

The Chance Vought V-173 'Flying Pancake'

Reading through the wealth of reports open to the public offers interesting facts and allows one to conjecture what may be written between the lines. Even on the very first page of the first of 16 sections on UFO reports and investigations can be found such anomalous reports as one by a Mr. Dick Rankin, a pilot with over 7,000 hours of flight experience. Mr Rankin attempted to identify the numerous UFO's spotted over Bakersfield, California on July 3, 1947 as being Navy XFSU-1 experimental aircraft, the V-173 "Flying Pancake." However the FBI follow-up with the manufacturer of the aircraft, Chance Vought, Inc. of Stratford, Connecticut, states that they were told only one of the prototype aircraft was ever constructed and that it was never taken out of Connecticut. So, we are back to wondering just what did pass over California that day.

Delving into "The Vault" offers such diverse reports as the communications and cooperation that the FBI had with the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP). The Vault contains the correspondence between them from 1957 to 1969. Also included in The Vault" are what investigations the FBI could do on cattle mutilations in the western and mid-western states between 1974 and 1978. Contrary to popular misconceptions, the FBI does not have jurisdiction everywhere but only on Federal land and where they have been invited by local law enforcement. Thus most of what can be found here was investigated on Federal lease land and Indian reservations.

There is a section containing information and correspondence between the FBI and a group, who in 1989 contacted the Bureau, calling themselves "The New Project Blue Book." There is even a section on the FBI's investigations into Extra-Sensory Perception (ESP) since it to is an Unexplained Phenomena. There is a section on Majestic-12 and Silas M. Newton also awaiting the inspection of anyone interested.

While it is unlikely that one will discover some great hidden secret in these publicly released documents, there is always the possibility they may provide just the clue needed to bring more, seemingly unrelated information, together for a better understanding of the UFO phenomena. If nothing else, it can give you an insight into the raw data used to investigate this ongoing mystery that does truly effect everyone on our planet.

If UFO's truly are spacecraft from another world then one would have to realize that, like any built thing, accidents can happen. Even without knowing what makes them fly or who or how they operate, it is still a reasonable assumption that they can break or falter just as any machine can do. Undoubtedly the most famous supposed UFO crash was in the New Mexico desert near Roswell in 1947. This, however, was by no means a unique, or for that matter, rare event.

Still from video of KGB recovery of crashed flying saucer March of 1969 in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia.

When investigating UFO crash reports from around the world, the totals are surprising. Since the middle of the 20th Century with the advent of the "foo fighters" and "ghost rockets" seen across Europe during World War II until the end of the century, there were over 200 reports of UFO's crashing here and there around the globe. This average of 4 crash reports a year has not diminished with the onset of the 21st Century either. As example let us look at the brief time period between May of 2006 and January of 2007.

On May the 20th, 2006 a large number of eyewitnesses saw a flaming object crash into the sea near Port Shepstone, South Africa. The point of impact was just beyond the breaker line offshore from Port Shepstone High School. Along with school students and teachers who were outside attending a sporting event, local fishermen and other bystanders also saw the crash. Along with flames, the witnesses reported the water "exploding" and a cloud of smoke lingering for a short time over the spot the object hit. The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) responded to the reports with police, rescue boats, and aircraft and covered a 12 square mile area but found no evidence of the downed object. Further checking showed no known aircraft either missing or overdue.

A mere seven months later the villagers between the towns of Yeniseisk and Lesosibirsk in Siberia reported a "flying apparatus" plunging from the sky at about 10 a.m. on the morning of December 1st, 2006. The crash caused a forest fire according to the Krasnoyarsk Territory Directorate for Internal Affairs. The Ministry for Emergencies stated that no aircraft were moving in the area at the time and that they had no reports of missing ail vessels. Investigators from the Transport Prosecutors Service and the Aircraft safety group Rosavianadzor rushed to the area.

Strangely, later that day Siberian officials released the statement that nothing unusual had occurred. Siberian Regional Centre of the Ministry for Emergencies spokesperson, Sergey Andriyanko, stated that all of the local witnesses "had reported false information" about the crash, and that "despite previous official claims to the contrary" there was now no evidence of the reported forest fire. "We report officially it has been a false alarm," Andriyanko said.

A single month later, on the 1st day of January 2007, South Africa was again the location of a UFO crash report. The Administrative Manager of the mining town of Lephalale, Leonie Ras, made the report. She stated that on that morning she was reading her email when she heard a noise like "an Airbus aircraft starting its engines and increased rapidly until the sound was like a million turbines screaming in unison." Running to a window she stated she first the clouds take on a bright orange-red color. Suddenly "a bright object plunged from the clouds to the earth, at a terrible speed, and hit the ground with an almighty bang." Her son-in-law, Cobus Nel also heard the sound but did not make it to a window in time to see the object as it fell to Earth.

The local police station was inundated with reports and questions about the bright light, noise, and crash but could provide few additional facts as their best guess was that the actual crash site was located in a heavily forested area just across the Border in Botswana approximately 28 miles away.

Less than two weeks later, on January 10th, 2007, another UFO crash was reported. Occurring about 60 miles from the provincial capital of Kerman, Iran, eye witnesses reported the object had been flaming and putting off a thick smoke before impacting the ground. People witnessed the falling of this fiery object from the sky from several surrounding villages. The Deputy Governor General of Kerman province Abulghassem Nasrollahi, stated that while the object made a large explosion on impact that no property was damaged due to the crash. Despite rumors that the crash was of a conventional aircraft, he reported that all such vehicles were safe and accounted for.

As with all UFO reports, there is a good chance that some of these many crashes were actually something mundane that had been misidentified. There are some, however, that defies all logical explanation. Regardless, the number of unidentified crashes does lead one to realize that even highly advanced technology has the potential to fail. One can also take in to account the possibility that sometimes the militaries of the world get lucky and shoot an unidentified aircraft down. Whatever else you may want to believe about UFO's, they are as subject to accidents as any other physical construct.

The more one researches the potential for extraterrestrial encounters between aliens and humans, the greater the probability that such encounters have been happening for a very long time. In our modern age of technology, we have the advantage of cameras, video, and instant communications to spread the word about strange and mysterious objects in our sky. While skeptics try to claim that UFO's and extraterrestrials are only a byproduct of our technological society, there are indications from the ancient past that UFO's and aliens were real and were here even before we developed a written language or more than primitive cultures. Even before language there was art, and it is through art that our distant ancestors handed down depictions of strange things which are still mysterious, but hauntingly familiar, to what we still see today.

The first recorded images of alien beings can be found in ancient cave paintings and petroglyphs from various places around the world. The first example dates to a period between 12-14,000 years ago and comes from Toro Muerto, in Peru. The images depict humanoid beings with some type of "halo" or other head covering. From it radiate lines that could be representative of either extensions of the object or light. It is very interesting to compare these images to another cave painting dated from about 10,000 years ago that was found in Val Camonica, Italy. These two humanoid figures also wear similar objects around their heads and also have the lines radiating outward. There was no travel between these two places on opposite sides of the planet 10-14,000 years ago, at least not by humans.

Around 5,000 or so years ago Sumerian culture in Mesopotamia had developed a culture that still affects and models our modern way of thinking. They credited this culture and knowledge to their "gods" alien beings that had come down from the sky to create and nurture them as they grew as a species.

Dating back to this same general time period are petroglyphs found outside Kimberley, Australia that also depict humanoid creatures with huge eyes and lines sometimes still radiating from their heads. Of note in this image is the clothing worn by the images. Compare it to some of the costume of the figures carved into the rock of Sego Canyon, Utah also about 5,000 years ago.

According to legends passed down from thousands of years ago by the indigenous tribes of the American Southwest, The 1947 UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico was hardly the first spacecraft to have a mishap in the desert. The legend says that two objects collided in the sky and one crash landed in what is now known as Death Valley. Another craft later descended and "men" from that craft helped fix the one that had crashed before they both took off back into the sky. It is interesting to note that the millenniums-old pictures the native Americans carved into the rock depict objects that can still be seen to often confound modern man and occasionally show up on You-Tube.

With such ancient evidence lurking all around the planet and through many ages of humanity, it is not hard to believe that these supposedly extraterrestrial beings have been coming to Earth and interacting with humans for a very long time. They may not even be that far away. Even discounting the idea of Nibiru, there are a number of planets in our solar system. From the multitude of reports of UFO's rising out of the oceans, they may have permanent colonies on our planet. Even if their origins were from another planet around another star, they could well have been here so long that they and many of their generations could have been born (or hatched, or cloned) right here. However "alien" they may be, from these ancient UFO reports we can conjecture, they might be just as much Earthlings as we humans are.

The reported crash of an unidentified flying saucer in the desert farmland outside Roswell, New Mexico in the summer of 1947 is one of the most well known incidences in UFO lore. It had the potential to broaden humanity's awareness of things far outside our normal experience and prove that the cosmos is after all much greater in significance than the problems of a single planet. However, the Roswell incident instead created a fundamental change in the way the average person viewed the military and our own government.

Coming up on the mid-century mark, especially in the United States, there was still an element of trust in our federal government. It had seen the country through two world wars and a major economic disaster. It had comforted and provided for its citizens and they felt they were in good hands, whether they were actually correct or not. Beginning with the cover-up of the Roswell story this unshakable trust in the honesty and openness of our leaders began to shiver.

Colonel William Blanchard was the Commander of the 509th Bomb Group out of Roswell Army Air Field. He has been described by those who knew him as honest, businesslike and reliable. The 509th was an elite air group, being at the time the only atomic group in the world. Brought in on the investigation of strange wreckage, what was found seemed to be truly amazing to the investigators. A press release was issued describing their efforts at recovering the debris of an otherworldly craft whose remains demonstrated unusual physical properties. It the interest of the people, Colonel Blanchard was merely reporting to the world an event of vast importance to its people. Regrettably, not everyone in the high ranks of our military agreed with that openness.

General Roger Ramey showing off a weather balloon at a press conference on July 8, 1947. His claim was that the debris from the Roswell crash were the same, despite not showing any crash material for comparison.

Within hours a new press release was issued. This one came from General Roger Ramey, 400 miles away from the scene at the Fort Worth (Texas) Army Air Field. Without any way of knowing the reality of Colonel Blanchard's find, he rescinded their report and stated that the elite military officers of the 509th had foolishly mistaken a simple weather balloon as the source of the debris. However illogical the tale that top military men could make such a childish mistake, the fix was in and the cover-up had begun.

It was years before the men actually involved in the recovery of the crash remains once more refuted the official story. One of those who later told of the strange unearthly properties of the material were Major Jesse Marcel, intelligence officer for the 509th. Another key witness to the initiation of the cover-up was the late General Thomas DuBose, then a colonel and Chief of Staff for General Ramey at Fort Worth. In 1992 he went on record as being the individual who took the phone call from General Clements McMullen at Andrews Army Air Field in Washington, D.C. His orders were to "concoct a "cover story" to get the press off our backs."

Within a few years there had begun the campaign to ridicule and deride any reports of UFO's and extraterrestrials and derail any serious investigations as the ranting of kooks and lunatics. The stonewalling of information became so widespread as to even gut the legitimacy of the Freedom of Information Act, which had been designed as a means of preventing authoritarianism from overcoming the freedoms that were an integral part of America's liberty. It was easy to deny the existence of information. What little was handed over was usually so blacked out "in the interest of National Security" that they were virtually useless. Even Congressmen and some Presidents were denied access to whatever information might give light to the truth of alien encounters.

The most important result of the Roswell incident was not whether aliens had crashed but that our own military and government had begun a long crusade to lie to and misinform the people whose trust they were sworn to uphold. They began to hide the knowledge they had gained worse than a miser hoarding his money. It slowly became clear to the citizens of this country and eventually even the world, whether they believed in UFO's or not, that their leaders and their rulers could not be trusted. It was a rude awakening for intelligent, adult people to have their concerns shunted aside with the callous attitude that they were too immature to handle the truth and that they should shut up, pay their taxes, and let Big Brother take care of them without oversight or accountability. Roswell was the beginning of the end for people's belief in the trustworthiness of their government.

Despite the overwhelming evidence of UFO's and the potential extraterrestrial connection with them, it is a common experience to have questions about UFO's brushed off by government channels. The average citizen is aware that they will generally get nothing more than the usual run-around and "not a threat to national security" line. The question is, how high in government ranks must you be in order to get a straight answer about UFO/extraterrestrial information? History has shown that it must be higher than the highest office in the land; even Presidents get the run-around.

Shortly after the Roswell incident, Harry Truman appointed General Robert Landry to coordinate with the CIA to keep him updated on the UFO phenomena. Even after the 1952 UFO sightings over Washington, D.C. Mr. Truman had to admit to a reporter of the New York Times that, "Oh yes we discussed it with every confidence that we have with the military an' they never had been or never were able to give me a concrete report on the subject!"

Dwight Eisenhower

Dwight Eisenhower

President Dwight Eisenhower tried to avoid the subject of UFO's as much as possible despite being possibly the first of our Presidents to actually see one in 1952. There is also the persistent rumor that his mysterious Palm Springs vacation in 1954 was to meet with alien diplomats and the "dentist" story was a cover for his overnight disappearance from view. Either way, "Ike" didn't say.

John F. Kennedy also asked about UFO's after allegedly seeing a 60 foot metallic object flying around while he was sailing near Cape Cod. His public response when asked about what he had found out was the ubiquitous, "The US Air Force assures me that UFO's pose no threat to National Security."

As the Vice-President in 1961, Lyndon Johnson had advised a Ufologist that he might have better luck asking NASA about the phenomena than the military. By 1969 this advice may have been outdated as he was filmed and photographed in attendance with not only the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the head of NASA, James Webb, but also the Governor of Pennsylvania the day after the supposed joint recovery of a crashed UFO near Texburg, PA by NASA and the Airforce. Everyone else was left with rumor and speculation.

Richard Nixon

Richard Nixon

Richard Nixon had indicated a desire to go public with UFO information and had commissioned the TV producer Bob Emenegger to research and use data from the archives of Norton Airforce Base to create a documentary exposing the truth of the phenomena. This film was to include what has been reported as a landing by a UFO at Holloman Airforce Base. Somewhere down the line the project was assigned to limbo.

Before becoming President, Gerald Ford had urged Congress to investigate the UFO phenomena for itself although he and Congress were ultimately led to the notoriously biased conclusions of the Condon Committee Report. As President, Mr. Ford's inquiries always met with the same results as President Kennedy before him. All those who could have enlightened the topic merely stated that there was no threat to national security. It should be noted though that among his sources were his then advisers, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, while George H. Bush was head of the CIA.

Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter

Mr. Bush continued his policy of information denial with President Jimmy Carter. Carter had gone on record publicly that he had seen a UFO personally and wanted to find and disclose all the government had on the subject. Mr. Bush, still at the helm of the CIA, told him that the information was on a "need to know" basis and the mere curiosity of a President of the United States did not constitute a "need to know." Despite this stonewalling by those who were supposedly in positions subservient to the Supreme Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and the top Executive Officer of our country, Mr. Carter used the Freedom of Information Act to release a lot of UFO information and documentation. Roughly half of all the information available was made so during his Administration.

Ronald Reagan was another of our Chief Executive Officers who had witnessed UFO's in our skies. While he never disclosed whatever he may have discovered about the facts behind the phenomena, he did on numerous occasions make references to the possibility of alien existence and its potential repercussions on humanity. Bill Clinton was also interested but, as he answered a question about whether they had actually found alien bodies at Roswell, answered, "If the US Airforce did recover bodies they didn't tell me about it either."

George H. Bush

George H. Bush

President George H. Bush had already made his stance on what he felt people needed to know about UFO's abundantly clear while still Director of the CIA. His son, George W. Bush, obviously following his father's lead, made no comment while leaving it to his Vice President, Dick Cheney to provide this flippant response to a question about UFO information he might be aware of: "Well if I had been briefed on that I'm sure it would probably be classified and I wouldn't be able to talk about it!"

If the top power positions in our nation are not allowed to discuss the reality behind unknown craft that can come and go as they please, then who is it in a position of power above them that is issuing the planetary gag order? With the paranoia the military displays when even a small commercial aircraft wanders too close to restricted areas, how can the comings and goings of such mysterious craft as UFO's NOT be a concern of national security? If even our Presidents can be told to mind their own business about the UFO phenomena, how can we not feel there is a grave danger lurking behind the secrecy surrounding their origins and purpose with Planet Earth and its inhabitants?

With the increased prevalence of UFO reports from around the world a person stands a chance of seeing some unusual object in the skies just about anywhere they happen to be. There are however some places that seem to draw anomalous sightings like flies to sugar. If you are tired of waiting in your own back yard for that mysterious sighting, you may want to book passage to some of the "UFO hotspots" where strange lights and objects seem to congregate.

North America has a number of these places where multiple sightings are common. Upper New York near Niagara Falls gets more than its share of unidentifiable lights in the sky. To the West, Mount Adams, Washington is host to so many unexplainable light shows that James Gilliland, founder of Enlightened Contact with Extra Terrestrial Intelligence (ECETI) has a ranch at the mountain's base where he hosts UFO seekers who are rarely disappointed. Mount Adams is also where pilot Kenneth Arnold saw the craft that first inspired the term "flying saucer" in 1947.

Mexico City, Mexico and the surrounding countryside seem to attract a number of different types of UFO. In April 2005 thousands of citizens of the city witnessed what was first a few silvery orbs floating in the sky only to be stunned as well over a hundred of these mysterious objects appeared and maneuvered through the sky. The event provided great film footage as the event was in full daylight just as so many UFO sightings in Mexico City occur.

Wiltshire, England is an area that contains not only the monolithic Stonehenge but also wide fields that continue to erupt in crop circles. For over 50 years the citizens have become almost used to the strange lights in the sky and deep booming sounds coming down from above. UFO hunters even hold an annual sky watch at Cradle Hill and are frequent observers at nearby Cley Hill.

Since the early 1990's the number of shiny metallic looking spheres appearing around San Clemente, Chile, prompted the local tourism board to dub the area the "UFO Trail" in 2008. While the terrain is rough, serious UFO hunters often travel to nearby El Enlandrillado for a chance to catch the aerial shows.

ET has not forgotten Australia either. Wycliffe Well, Northern Territory, is as well known for UFO activity as the area around Roswell, New Mexico. The Falkirk Triangle in Scotland has spent the last twenty years being presented with multiple unidentified lights and craft. Thousands of residents have reported these oft-occurring events with the small town of Bonnybridge topping the list with an average of 300 sightings a year. Falkirk was responsible for over 6,000 pages of report data recently released to the public by the Ministry of Defense.

These are not the only places for long-term multiple sightings. From the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico to Sochi, Russia, to Ladakh in the Himalayan Mountains some areas of our Earth seem to hold an especial fondness for whatever or whoever pilots these mysterious craft.

Roswell, New Mexico is one of the most famous locations with regard to UFO crash sites. Also, in the same vein, Area 51 might be the most famous military base in the world that doesn’t officially exist. Other places around the globe also have crash sites that are quite famous. One such crash site being Zhitkur, colloquially referred to as the “Russian Roswell.”

The Zhitkur crash occurred over 100 years ago. It was around 7:17 AM local time on the 30th of June in 1908. What was initially thought to be a meteor or fragment of comet entered the atmosphere in Siberia somewhere above the lower region of the Stony Tunguska River. The explosion it created was as much as 1,000 times the power of the Hiroshima atomic bomb; it caused trees to become laid out like matchsticks in a huge circular pattern. Where there was supposed to be a huge crater, none was found, this meant that it could not have been a meteor or comet fragment. The object, whatever it was, had to have exploded high above the ground.

A popular theory which still sparks imaginations to this day is that a UFO crash-landed in the area. Since then there have been numerous reports and claims of UFO sightings and crashes where the wreckage was secretly transported to a highly shrouded Russian air force base for reverse engineering research. This base, Kapustin Yar is the Russian equivalent of our Area 51. Because of the highly sensitive secrets that the underground Russian base was purported to research, the nearby town of Zhitkur was emptied of its population and then leveled.

Less than a year after the famed Roswell incident in 1947, radar operators at the base picked up on an unidentified object. This silver-colored, cigar-shaped object was also witnessed by a fighter pilot flying in the area. After reporting of being blinded by the UFO, the pilot was ordered to engage it. After a dogfight that lasted about three minutes, a missile brought down the unidentified craft. The UFO was reported to have been firing some kind of energy beam or weapon, and subsequently both aircraft crashed.

Soviet recovery teams are reported to have scooped up all of the wreckage and transported it to the underground military base which, ironically enough was named Zhitkur. The reason that MiGs were ordered to engage and bring down any extraterrestrial aircraft was because Russia was desperate to find any advantage over the Americans.

The Zhitkur facility is located about a quarter mile beneath the Earth’s surface. People who have been there have described in detail what can be found inside. Inside there are dark, dank corridors. Numerous offshoots lead to chambers in which there are alien craft in various stages of disassembly. There were also areas where alien autopsies would take place and other sections where unidentified objects were being built.

Ongoing research at Kapustin Yar has been reported as recently as 1997. UFO wreckage is said to be transported into Zhitkur regularly. With the new Russian freedoms, perhaps we can get to know more about Zhitkur and if the UFOs brought there for research were really extraterrestrial in origin. It sure does beg the question of what secrets the Russians may still be hiding.

The Roswell UFO Incident is one of the most popular and mysterious incidents in the history of UFO theory. It involves the recovery of materials near Roswell, New Mexico in United States of America. Since the late 1970s, this incident has become the subject of intense speculation, questioning and rumors. There are widely divergent views on what actually happened and heated debate about what evidence can be believed. The US military maintains that what was actually recovered was debris from an experimental high-altitude surveillance balloon belonging to a classified program named “Mogul”. However many UFO proponents still believe that a crashed alien craft and bodies were recovered from Roswell, and that the military is covering up the whole incident. This event ranks as one of the most publicized and controversial UFO incidents ever.

On 8th July 1947, the Roswell Army Air Field issued a press release stating that its personnel had recovered a crashed “flying disc” from a ranch near Roswell, sparking intense media interest. However later on the same day, they issued another statement that contradicted the first saying, a weather balloon had been recovered by RAAF personnel, rather than a “flying saucer”. The case was quickly forgotten and almost completely ignored, even by UFO researchers.
Then, in 1978, a famous ufologist Stanton T. Friedman interviewed Major Jesse Marcel, who was involved with the original recovery of the debris in 1947. Marcel expressed his belief that the military had covered up the recovery of an alien spacecraft. This interview garnered huge national and worldwide attention for the Roswell incident.
Soon additional reports and witnesses emerged over the following years. They added significant new details, including claims of a huge military operation dedicated to recovering alien craft and aliens themselves and alleged witness intimidation. In 1989, former mortician Glenn Dennis put forth a detailed personal account, wherein he claimed that alien autopsies were carried out at the Roswell base.
In response to these reports, and after congressional inquiries, the General Accounting Office launched an inquiry and directed the officers to conduct an internal investigation. The reports maintained that it was not an UFO but was just a weather balloon. However, these reports were dismissed by UFO proponents as being either bogus or simply implausible. A significant number of people still believe that RAAF is still housing the flying saucers that crashed in Roswell on 8th July1947.

The Roswell UFO incident is one of the major events in the history of unidentified flying objects or UFO’s on earth. On 7th July 1947, there was some recovery of materials from a crash site in Roswell, New Mexico in United States. And since that time these recovery of materials has become a subject of debate, speculation, questioning and rumor. There are divergent views on exactly what happened in Roswell on that day. The U.S Army maintains that it was a high altitude weather balloon and not a flying saucer. However there are many people who believe that the crashed craft was alien space ship and bodies were recovered from it and the military is hiding some facts. All these make the Roswell incident as one of the most controversial and publicized UFO event.

On 8th of July 1947, the RAAF which is the Roswell Army Air Field issued a press statement telling that they have recovered a crashed flying saucer from a ranch in Roswell. This report sparked interest from all sections of society. However later on the same day it issued another statement contradictory to its first and confirming that flying object as a hot air balloon and not a flying saucer, as was claimed earlier. The case was completely forgotten and was rarely talked about for around 30 years.

But in the year 1978, things changed when during an interview with a renowned ufologist, Major Jesse Marcel who was part of the team which recovered the debris from the site gave a shocking statement saying that military on that day, in actual recovered a flying saucer and is hiding the facts from the general public. This interview garnered attention from all over the world.

Over the following years additional reports and witnesses came forward. These witnesses added more significant details including claims of a secret military operation and alleged witness intimidation.

In the year 1989, a former mortician Glenn Dennis put forward a personal detail account where he claimed that alien autopsies are being carried out at the base in Roswell.

In 1990’s few well known UFO researchers interviewed over hundred people who had or claimed to have had some connection with the events that happened on 7th July 1947 in Roswell. Apart from this, thousands of documents were obtained with the help of Freedom of Information Act requests. As were some which were apparently leaked by the insiders, the most popular one being the “Majestic 12” documents.

UFOs and flying saucers

Every year thousands of human beings see strange, shining objects, which whistle across the night-Heaven.

After most sightings are identified (air balloons, planes and more) a little part of them are not identifiable.

Is it spacecrafts from foreign globes?

What fell down in Roswell New Mexico in 1947?
Or is there a natural explanation on the UFOs?

The modern UFO era starts in 1947. That year pilot Kenneth Arnold reports that he saw nine crescent-shaped airships on June 24th fly in an almost unnatural way near Mount Rainier in the US. They resembled plates, which played ducks and drakes on a water level, Arnold explained,. Different newspapers published the history, and soon hundreds of people around the US had seen "flying saucers".

According to the conspiracy theories CIA turns up shortly afterwards on the stage like a hidden company, who stands behind "the blackout of the truth".

Roswell, 1947
Something falls down on July 4th 1947, on a field in the vicinity of the town of Roswell in the American state New Mexico.

Mac Brazel, chairman on one of the country farm areas, finds large quantities lightweight-metallic wreck parts, which lie spread on several fields, but to begin with he does not do anything about it.

Only the following day, as Brazel hears about a reward of 3000 dollars to the one, that can find signs of flying saucers, he acts.

July 6th Brazel shows the wreck rests to the local sheriff, George Wilcox, who contacts Roswell's air force and arranges a talk with the FBI-officer major Jesse Marcel.

Strange wreck rests
Together investigator Marcel and Wilcox agree that the wreck rests are unique and that they have never seen anything like that before.

The army is ordered to collect so many of the pieces, as it can, and the rumours will know that the air force take the parts from the foreign spacecraft to the military-base Area 51 in Arizona to interrogate the survivors and perform an alien autopsy on the dead.

Both the sheriff and the major collect some pieces of wreckage, and tell the curious press about the crashed spacecraft.

For instance about a weird metal piece, with lavender-coloured symbols in the middle.

Mac Brazel.
The blackout starts But shortly afterwards the army and the intelligence agency confiscates all the pieces of wreckage and forces sheriff Wilcox to pull his press statement back.

History reports that the army encloses the case entirely in darkness after that - and that they since that day have had an alien spacecraft standing on the Area 51 base together with the bodies of the dead aliens.

After 1952 the American government completely close out the Roswell case and all what follows about UFO observations. The official policy after that says that foreign spacecrafts do not exist.
The soldiers at the American Military Academy learn about the different types of UFOs admittedly, but an official statement about the subject can cost up more 10.000 in fine.

UFO technology
The proof of the crashed spacecraft in Roswell is found in our own time. Our own modern technology. The computer is a good example. Just because some people do not understand how something works, it does not necessarily mean that there is little green aliens behind it. Some human beings make that mistake that because they cannot see how e.g. the home pc works, they think nobody else can either. Therefore there must be aliens behind it.

Grain circles.
Many claims to have seen those strange phenomenas, but everything is very secret when it comes to alien activity. More than 400 high-ranked people, who earlier worked for US Airforce, FBI, NASA and CIA, stood forward in May 2001 in order to tell the truth about their UFO experiences. The goal was in one respect to tell the public the truth, and at the same time to cause safe-conduct to tell the truth without being punished, when they were included by professional secrecy. They talk under promise of secrecy and in addition to this a large part has furthermore presented documents that they stole, when they were employed there.

Answers from the space
On November 16th 1974 we sent messages about the human race from the Earth out into space against the galaxies from the Arecibo-telescope in Puerto Rico. They were sent out again three times in June and the month of July 2001. On August 13th and the night between the 18. and August 19th 2001 the transmission was maybe received in the shape of two grain circles near Chilbolton Radio Telescope in England.

Spacecraft or weather balloon?
But is there a more natural explanation on the wreck rests in Roswell instead of the crashed spacecraft from outer space?
In the start of July 1947 New Mexico was ravaged by a heavy storm. It happened while the top secret project Mogul tested huge, high-flying balloons, which were to catch Soviet atomic explosions. The balloons were made of a metallic lightweight material and strengthened along with a tape flower-inspect, bought in a local country shop ...

The Roswell occurrence
The events in Roswell took place over 55 years ago, and the UFO hysterics about this town didn't start at once.

Aliens or crash test dummie's?
First in 1980 the place got the ufologists' interest when Charles Berlitz and William Moore published the book "The Roswell Incident".

And it is this history that most people know:
The story about the crashed spacecraft, aliens and sinister blackouts. Maybe witnesses, who are interviewed 33 years after the occurrence not entirely remember what happened that day in July 1947.
Maybe people do mix up many different events, such as weather balloons, nuclear test balloons, crashed planes with sunburned bodies and crash test dummie's thrown out from planes in great height?

Roswell 2004
The crasharea lies about 150 miles north of Roswell, a small town, which has now done a scoop and puts itself at the disposal of untiring UFO enthusiasts, who flock to the place like pilgrims.
Roswell has two UFO museums and arranges a yearly festival. Souvenir penances sell merchandise, as people do it along Loch Ness. And just as Catholics go to Rome, Muslims travel to Mekka, Roswell is a place that UFO enthusiasts can visit in order to confirm faith. Many have concluded that the Roswell incident is fake, but the conspiracy theory continues and television shows built on it.
