Many believe, both within and without the confines of the active UFO/alien community, that extraterrestrials had much to do with the population of this planet.

Some percentage of those even believe that the very origins of humankind were conceived, from some map deep within the master plan of that alien race, and even that these aliens have played an active role in every facet of human society. Even if you're in the vast majority of people who might find these ideas far-fetched they’re certainly entertaining reads.

Many well-educated and learned scholars have produced works to highlight their specific ideas that base at least part of their theories upon more widespread and significant records. Take for instance the author and scholar, Zechariah Sitchin, whose books "the Earth Chronicles" (specifically "the 12th planet") talk about ancient astronauts. Sitchin essentially bases his theory on ancient Samaria and texts and passages from the Bible that at least in some instances appear to support the text. He argues that a planet in the farthest areas of our solar system which he calls “Nibiru” crashed into another planet called Tiamat, half of which formed our planet the other is now purportedly the asteroid belt.  “Nibiru”, having survived the collision, purportedly travels now in an orbit which allows contact between it and our solar system every 3500+ years or so.

Sitchin believes the race of aliens called the Annunaki reside on “Nibiru” and in early times (of our Earth's birth) came to earth to extract materials to perpetuate their own work. Such materials include gold, of which the earth has a spectacular amount. Furthermore, it is his argument that because of the long and tedious work they masterminded a plan to genetically engineer minors who could on their behalf, perform the labor: humans.

Is this far-fetched? Incredibly so: however it raises many questions. As many millions and billions of people on earth, since the beginning of time as we know it have questioned their origins their purpose and the hereafter, this theory perhaps falls in line in a long list of theory and belief which deserves further exploration.

These theories actually gain some momentum in retellings of other mythical stories including those of Greek and Roman mythology. In such tales the "far-fetched" idea of a master race creating a subordinate laborer race features prominently: the mythical gods and goddesses in their own words according to these myths, created humans to accomplish the work so that they would not have to. The Bible speaks of God's, deities, and Angels as well as other heavenly hosts which also bear striking similarities to alien races, when a holistic examination between all documents is taken. Is it possible that these written records portray meetings and encounters as well as the record of history between extraterrestrials and the human race? Were biblical miracles and under explained passages potentially simply alien technologies manifested on an uninitiated humankind? Does a date like 2012 mark the year that the Annunaki return to our solar system – has it been 3500+ years? Were humans genetically engineered by an alien race? Is any of this believable?

Many scientists mock what they call fake scholars, a group within which many of them include Sitchin. They call his interpretations and renderings of ancient texts misleading and flawed in its core. It's a difficult question to be asked then of course, with so many nonscientific evidences like artifacts, cave drawings, monuments and oral stories – and yet so few scientific evidences. The believer tends to focus only on nonscientific evidence and the nonbeliever of course in opposition. Who can explain in this modern world, things like the Giza Pyramids, the Nazca Lines, Stonehenge, and Woodhenge?

So many pictures exist of cave drawings around the world that seem to show ancient astronauts, flying saucers and other unexplainable depictions. Prophets in the Bible seemingly described events and occurrences which were far beyond their or our interpretations. Though seemingly easily explained by religious scholars, it leads one to wonder could our views on religion be inherently controlled or guided by an alien entity.

Truth exists everywhere regardless of your specific beliefs: while we may never know here on this Earth or otherwise, whether these ideas are true or warrant some other explanation, it's important to realize the vast volumes of information which can be seen as ambiguous, unexplainable or unable to be attached to a certain set of standards or beliefs. We can but wonder, until the next great piece of insight is thrust upon us.

Earth's exploration of our solar system was taking another giant leap in 1976 with the Viking 1 spacecraft taking the first detailed pictures of our planetary neighbor, Mars, from its own orbit. That leap stumbled upon a shocking potentiality when it took an image of the Cydonia mesa on July 25. While the image was at first ignored as a "trick of the light" by the chief scientist of the Viking program, Gerry Soffen, image 35A72 caught the imagination of a world. Along with nearby features that appeared to be groups of pyramids was a mountain that seemed not only very symmetrical in shape but had the shape, from orbit, of a human-like face!

It was first credited by mainstream scientists to be merely an example of pareidolia, the human mind's ability to see shapes and patters in random imagery, much like pictures in clouds. There are however, a number of factors that can refute this claim of randomness. Additional images of the "face" structure have been taken at different heights, resolutions, and light angles. Even though greater surface detail (the European Space Agency's Mars Express in 2003 to image resolutions as detailed as 46 feet per pixel) did diminish the clarity of a "face" somewhat. It did not diminish the abnormal symmetry of the overall structure. Even if the underlying formations are natural, they have had help in maintaining the integrity of the symmetry that presents a face-like appearance seen from above.

There is also the matter of the "city" just a bit away from the "face" mesa. Contained in this area are structures that have mountains sharply angled to form pyramid shapes. The images of this area were studied extensively by the computer engineers, Vincent DiPietro and Gregory Molenaar. Contacted with NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland these men began an attempt to explain the features in a geological sense. Although their research showed anomalies that could not be naturally occurring and sought verification from other scientists, their work was largely ignored.

Former NASA consultant Richard Hoagland, the developer of the Pioneer 10 and 11 interstellar plaques, originally took the official stance that it was all an illusion but later study caused him to about-face and make claim for an artificial nature to the structures. He discovered more pyramidal forms in the "city" part of the area including the structure called "the Fort" for what appears to be a set of straight walls and an open enclosed area. He performed solstice alignment calculations based of the positioning of the pyramidal mounds and their spatial orientations to each other. His calculations of solar alignments have held up to independent critique.

The research scientist, Dr. Mark Carlotto, reexamined the Viking images in 1986-87 utilizing new "shape-from-shading protocols for image enhancement and disproved the "trick of light and shadow" hypothesis. Not only did the enhanced images show many additional symmetrical lines and alignment angles, but that there also appeared that, hidden within the "shadows" of the original image, were structures that looked like teeth in the mouth area.

The geomorphologist and cartographer, Erol Torun, who worked with the United States Defense Mapping Agency released a cartographic/geometric analysis of the D&M pyramid demonstrating that the mountain's angles were unlikely to be obtained in a natural mountain and that no known erosion processes could produce these angles either. Dr. Horace Crater of the University of Tennessee Space Institute also published a mathematical analysis of the numerous small mounds in the area around the "face" and the "city' in 1995. His mathematical calculations discounted the probability that the placement of these mounds/structures were randomly occurring.

The controversy over the origin and composition of the objects at Cydonia rages. While some consider it all light and shadows, others feel this is an extraterrestrial proof that other intelligences have shared our solar system and shaped its planets before us. Whether they are still around, living under the surface of the red planet, or passed into the obscurity of the past will require much more investigation. It should be noted that according to ancient Sumerian texts, Mars was a way station for the Annunaki on their travels between Earth and Nibiru. We know from archeology that the ancient Sumerian culture build vast megalithic structures, many of which still stand today. Could there be a direct link to these structures and pyramids of Mesopotamia and the ones that seem to also stand on Mars?

The more one researches the potential for extraterrestrial encounters between aliens and humans, the greater the probability that such encounters have been happening for a very long time. In our modern age of technology, we have the advantage of cameras, video, and instant communications to spread the word about strange and mysterious objects in our sky. While skeptics try to claim that UFO's and extraterrestrials are only a byproduct of our technological society, there are indications from the ancient past that UFO's and aliens were real and were here even before we developed a written language or more than primitive cultures. Even before language there was art, and it is through art that our distant ancestors handed down depictions of strange things which are still mysterious, but hauntingly familiar, to what we still see today.

The first recorded images of alien beings can be found in ancient cave paintings and petroglyphs from various places around the world. The first example dates to a period between 12-14,000 years ago and comes from Toro Muerto, in Peru. The images depict humanoid beings with some type of "halo" or other head covering. From it radiate lines that could be representative of either extensions of the object or light. It is very interesting to compare these images to another cave painting dated from about 10,000 years ago that was found in Val Camonica, Italy. These two humanoid figures also wear similar objects around their heads and also have the lines radiating outward. There was no travel between these two places on opposite sides of the planet 10-14,000 years ago, at least not by humans.

Around 5,000 or so years ago Sumerian culture in Mesopotamia had developed a culture that still affects and models our modern way of thinking. They credited this culture and knowledge to their "gods" alien beings that had come down from the sky to create and nurture them as they grew as a species.

Dating back to this same general time period are petroglyphs found outside Kimberley, Australia that also depict humanoid creatures with huge eyes and lines sometimes still radiating from their heads. Of note in this image is the clothing worn by the images. Compare it to some of the costume of the figures carved into the rock of Sego Canyon, Utah also about 5,000 years ago.

According to legends passed down from thousands of years ago by the indigenous tribes of the American Southwest, The 1947 UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico was hardly the first spacecraft to have a mishap in the desert. The legend says that two objects collided in the sky and one crash landed in what is now known as Death Valley. Another craft later descended and "men" from that craft helped fix the one that had crashed before they both took off back into the sky. It is interesting to note that the millenniums-old pictures the native Americans carved into the rock depict objects that can still be seen to often confound modern man and occasionally show up on You-Tube.

With such ancient evidence lurking all around the planet and through many ages of humanity, it is not hard to believe that these supposedly extraterrestrial beings have been coming to Earth and interacting with humans for a very long time. They may not even be that far away. Even discounting the idea of Nibiru, there are a number of planets in our solar system. From the multitude of reports of UFO's rising out of the oceans, they may have permanent colonies on our planet. Even if their origins were from another planet around another star, they could well have been here so long that they and many of their generations could have been born (or hatched, or cloned) right here. However "alien" they may be, from these ancient UFO reports we can conjecture, they might be just as much Earthlings as we humans are.

Dr. Sitchin, at fist glance, is an unlikely seeming candidate to be included in the ranks of alien investigators. He did not seek out witnesses to UFO sightings or probe the night skies with binoculars. First and foremost he was a scholar of ancient languages and stories. His particular forte was Sumerian, Akkadian, and the ancient Mesopotamian iconography. He was one of only a handful of scholars who could read and translate the cuneiform writing of the Sumerian clay tablets archeologists had only begun to discover. The tales he read fascinated him with their similarity to many more current texts and legends, myths and religions.

Dr. Sitchin's translations were considered high academic achievement. He did not begin to gather controversy around him until he began to write about his interpretation of these ancient texts; interpretations that flew in the face of accepted academic beliefs in the origins of our species and our place in evolution.

It the texts the Sumerians wrote of their "gods" as beings who originally came down from the sky. Travelling from their home planet, Nibiru, these extraterrestrials colonized and lived on this planet long before humans even existed. As a colony sent to mine mineral resources from the planet, these beings, the Annunaki, eventually grew tired of toiling so menially themselves and demanded their leaders find a better solution. According to the writings of the Sumerians, we humans were the result of that demand. Using advanced genetic knowledge, the scientists of the Annunaki blended their own DNA with an indigenous primate species to create the first humans to work the mines for their alien masters.

Within a series of twelve books, Dr. Sitchin presented his evidence, garnered from both literature and architecture to demonstrate the validity of his theories that the Sumerians were not writing fantasy but chronicling the knowledge and events that took place in their lives under the auspices of their extraterrestrial overlords. From the, as yet, unduplicable technology that raised monolithic structures around the world to complex and inexplicable "out of place artifacts in relation to time and space" (OOPARTS), to astronomical tables containing information a primitive, non-technological civilization could not have known about; the Annunaki seem to have left a huge legacy to their human creations.

Since releasing his interpretations of the texts he translated, Dr. Sitchin's work has created an entirely new and very popular aspect to the UFO-extraterrestrial mythos. In looking at the wider picture, there is a great amount of circumstantial evidence that there may be a great deal of possible truth to these theories and interpretations. Dr. Sitchin's work has disturbed the entire academic belief system, so much so that it is becoming fashionable to debunk or ridicule all his work even on the basis of a very few points where misinterpretation may have occurred. It is so important for academia to discredit Dr. Sitchin that even on his Wikipedia page there is far more information about scholars and pseudo scholars and their efforts to debunk his work that there is information about the man himself.

Where there is smoke, there is usually a fire. From the sheer numbers of academics attempting to debunk Dr. Sitchin's theories it would seem that he struck a nerve with his challenge to their "official" story of humanity's origins and their failure to acknowledge any of the multitude of facts and artifacts that do not fit their version. Even as science is discovering more about the solar system that the ancient Sumerians seemed to have already known, it is worth reading through the rather dry text of Dr. Sitchin's books. If any of this information about the Annunaki that came from ancient Sumeria is true then we may soon be facing a reunion with an alien race that could well have valid reasons for considering our planet, if not our entire species, as their own property.

The belief in the reality of extraterrestrial aliens and their unidentified aircraft has had a long and sometime speckled career. A hundred and fifty years ago it was not uncommon for a newspaper to carry the story of an inexplicable sighting of a flying aircraft. It was fairly well accepted that these objects must have come from another world since we Earthlings had yet to develop even the most rudimentary airplane of our own. There were even reports of the infrequent encounter with beings that were quite obviously not natural to this planet. Even then there were still the skeptics who felt such reporting was a sensational attempt at fooling the people and selling more papers.

By the mid Twentieth Century these sightings became more frequent and widespread. As we entered the Atomic Age it seems that the number of UFO's spotted around the globe mushroomed as greatly as the radioactive clouds over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is almost as if, by unleashing the awesome power of the destructed atom, we had drawn intense and increasing outside surveillance on our actions as a species. Suddenly world governments and the militaries they supported were being ordered to investigate these objects and let their citizens know if there was any danger to be expected from them. Sadly, those governments failed their trust towards their people.

Rather than provide straight answers about the findings of their investigations, the people were offered often ridiculous 'explanations" and told to shut up and not trouble themselves about UFO's. The government and military of the United States especially took a more dastardly approach. Misrepresenting the findings of the Air Force's Condon Report, a campaign of ridicule began to be spread across the land. Aided by the major media outlets, anyone who saw a UFO must by default be a kook or crazy and deserving of scorn. At the very best, anyone coming forth with a report of what they saw was publicly discredited as a liar. This publicly sanctioned attitude thrived for over thirty years before something changed.

Beginning in the 1980's popular media like books, movies, and television began a slow infiltration of the public consciousness with the idea of beings from other worlds. Their interpretations changed from the bug-eyed monsters of early pulp science fiction and took on a more benign demeanor such as that of E.T. who just wanted to go home. By the end of the Twentieth Century, despite conservative's perpetual skepticism, a growing belief in the reality of extraterrestrials and UFO's reblossomed and became an accepted concept in the minds of the majority of citizens.

In 2002 the cable television channel Sci Fi commissioned the Roper Agency to poll Americans about their belief in UFO's. Their findings showed that the efforts to acclimate us to the idea of alien life had met with a great deal of success. While the numbers may vary a bit from country to country (for instance more Canadians believe in UFO's than U.S. citizens) the Roper Poll was only held in the USA. The poll showed that an astonishing 75% of the population was at least partially prepared for proof of extraterrestrial existence. Half the population was quite willing to accept the proof without feeling the need to panic that the government has always claimed as their motivation for withholding what information they had. 55% of the people feel that the government is withholding vast amounts of critically important information about the UFO phenomena from them.

Over two-thirds of Americans firmly believe intelligent life exists in other parts of our galaxy and the universe and nearly half are convinced that some of it found us first and have routinely visited this planet to have a look at us. Fully 12% of the population state that they or others they trust and believe have actually interacted in some form with these aliens and their mysterious craft. A meager 1.4% feel they have possibly been abducted by some of these creatures but realize that 1.4% still equals nearly three million people who have strong belief in aliens but not in any benign way.

With this increased belief and acceptance of the reality of aliens and UFO's it does leave us with a question or two. Are we being set up to accept them openly on our planet as a precursor to becoming subservient to a technologically superior race? Is it possible that the Annunaki of the ancient Sumerian culture are getting ready to return after one of their planet Nibiru's orbits and reestablish their reign on a planet they feel they rightfully own? Is it possible that even more nefariously, is it a mass conspiracy by our own governments to "pretend" to be aliens appearing to force swift and possibly totalitarian control on the people of this planet?

Belief is a wonderful thing to experience, but it should still always be tempered with an objective observation of discoverable fact so you are not led astray by manipulated beliefs.

According to the ancient Sumerian cuneiform texts, their gods, overlords, and creators, the Annunaki, came down out of the sky to Earth from a different planet in our solar system. This home of their gods was not formed here with the rest of our planetary bodies but rather was captured by the Sun's gravity a very long time ago.

This planet, called by them, Nibiru, Planet of the Crossing, caused major upheaval in the entire system, altering and destabilizing the orbits of the existing planets and actually throwing two of them together in a cataclysmic collision which eventually stabilized into the duel planetary system of the Earth and the Moon.

Being an outsider, Nibiru does not follow the plane of the Elliptic but rather follows a widely cast orbit of approximately 3,600 years from the area of the inner planets out into the Oort cloud that surrounds our entire solar system. On board this far traveled and alien planet there lived a race of very long-lived, highly technologically advanced beings who had survived the long journey through interstellar space and were ready to explore the planets around the new star they would hereafter call their own.

Again, according to the tales they told, their exploration of planet Earth began as early as 450,000 years ago. Their purpose was the exploitation of the mineral wealth found here. Gold was needed to repair the atmosphere of their home-world and Earth had that in abundance. Originally, the mining was done by the aliens themselves, but the work was hard and arduous even for such a long-lived race and the workers rebelled against such a menial task. As a replacement, the alien scientists created a worker class of beings through genetically mixing their DNA with that of a primitive species, homo erectus, that had naturally developed on planet Earth. These new beings were homo sapiens, our first direct ancestors.

Through the ages of their reign the Annunaki continued to travel between the worlds when Nibiru passed back into the inner system. After building a vast civilization the mission to Earth was done and they determined to leave Earth and all return to their home planet.

Now the time is nearing when Nibiru should once more be moving into the inner part of the solar system on its long journey around the sun. The implications of just the gravitational effect such an occurrence could have on our world have the potential to be catastrophic for our civilization. If these ancient writings of the Sumerians are not a mere fiction, and the Sumerians were a practical and pragmatic people, then it would behoove us to know how near the rogue planet will come to our own and how great the gravitational stresses on our world we may expect.

There is a growing rumor that our modern scientists have rediscovered this approaching planetary body. With the dangerous implications it presents, a conspiracy of silence is said to be issued by the world's governments to prevent fear creating chaos among the masses of the people. The first positive identification of a planet-sized body moving towards us is said to have been found in the scans of NASA's Infrared Astronomical Satellite (IRAS) launched in 1983. After ten months of gazing into the depths of space, the official story is that IRAS quit functioning. Unofficially, the former US intelligence officer John Maynard has disclosed that in actuality the scans detected a very large, very hot (by infrared standards) object in the system and it was thereafter commandeered to track this object exclusively in order to help determine its path.

Now, at incredible expense, the South Pole Telescope (SPT) has been constructed in the heart of the frozen Antarctic continent. With clear air the SPT can view the skies nearly as well as the aging Hubble Space Telescope. There is also the rumor that the object first seen by IRAS is approaching from the southern skies and the SPT has been specifically positioned to keep track of this object in an attempt to plot just how close to Earth it will come in its passing. The SPT has been unofficially dubbed the new Planet X Tracker.

If this rumor is true, we can hope that Nibiru will pass closest on the far side of the sun where the gravitational influence may only cause an increase in tectonic shifts and an increase in volcanoes and earthquakes. If it passes very much nearer, these planetary stress symptoms have the potential to cause enough destruction that our very civilization may be in danger of extinction.

And another important reason for tracking this mysterious object as it approaches the inner solar system is this: When it made its last run through the inner planets, the Annunaki left Earth supposedly to give their human creations a chance to grow and develop on their own. With its return, the Sumerian texts say, they are planning on coming back to see how well we have done.

About 6,000 years ago something that was as amazing as it was illogical occurred on planet Earth. An advanced, culturally complex and intelligent human culture sprang full-blown into recorded history. Without passing through more primitive stages of evolution, trial and error, and slow-growing learning, Sumeria started its existence already formed and set in its ways. The Sumerians themselves wrote, as they were suddenly able to do, that they did not develop their culture themselves but were merely the inheritors of what was given them by their "Lords," ancient, long-lived beings whose very name, Annunaki, translates as "Those who from the heavens came down." They credit the creation of human civilization, human knowledge, and, in fact, humans themselves, to alien beings who came from another planet.

There are few people on Earth who have the knowledge to read and translate the cuneiform writing of these ancient people. Of the handful, it is impossible to avoid the work of Zecharia Sitchin. The great controversy surrounding his work is not his translations of the Sumerian texts but his interpretation of them. Sitchen views the words as being literal; for instance, when they say a "god" came to visit a temple he interprets it that "someone" did show up. He does not second-guess the meaning of an author 6,000 years ago and say they were only speaking metaphorically.

With the knowledge we can learn from these ancient people, we can begin to see a pattern develop that gives good indication for these literal interpretations. The Sumerians considered Earth the seventh planet, as their alien "gods" referred to it for being the seventh planet in towards the sun with Pluto being the first, Uranus the second, etc. That these ancient people knew of these outer planets without the aid of telescopes indicates someone from the outside had informed them. Our own science did not "rediscover" Pluto until 1930.

Another concept the Sumerians retold from their alien gods was that the Earth and the Moon were created as we know them today from a collision between two planets that had been thrown together because of the gravitational disturbance of the passage of their own planet, Nibiru, when it was first captured by our Sun. Until recently, this idea had been scoffed at but new studies indicate that this is a most likely reality. Two sources of further study can be found at: the June, 2000 edition of "Spatium" the magazine of the International Space Science Institute, and in a recent article from ScienceDaily.com on June, 7, 2010. Again, ancient people without advanced technology knew of a thing we are only beginning to find proof of.

The Sumerian aliens stated they had sent a mining colony to Earth over 400,000 years ago. That there were spacefaring beings on the planet so long ago could help explain the existence of so many of the mysterious Out Of Place Artifacts in Relation to Time and Space (OOPARTS) that have confused and confounded the "academically established" order of human evolution.

The ancient Sumerian texts also state that these aliens grew tired of working the mines themselves and commissioned their genetic scientists to create a "worker class" from indigenous beings. Of the various species of homo erectus available for manipulation, Neanderthal man has been shown to be related to us, homo sapiens sapiens. There has yet to be discovered the mysterious "missing link" that connects the two lines together. Could that be because the "link" is the product of an alien genetics laboratory rather than the slow process nature takes to evolve a species?

According to the Sumerians, the aliens finally left Earth so their "creations" could develop on their own. There is, however, the caveat that they would return sometime to see how well that experiment worked. This is the basis of many modern religions. It also gives rise to the question of whether or not the aliens left representatives behind to watch the development of man. Are they still watching or have they over the centuries taken a more direct, although hidden, hand in the affairs of humanity? And through all this is the question, "What will happen when/if these ancient Sumerian aliens DO come back to reestablish their rule over a planet and a species they may feel they own by right of having been here long before us?

We will be investigating these and many more questions about the Annunaki as time progresses.

Upshur County, West Virginia is a classic example of Appalachian coal country. Besides the mineral wealth of the earth, its forested hills provide an equally valuable timber industry. There is only one incorporated city, the County Seat of Buckhannon, with numerous diminutive unincorporated communities interspersed through the forest ridges and valleys. It seems an unusual place for an artifact that insinuates a prehuman civilization to have been discovered.

The Second World War was reaching its climax in 1944 when then ten year old Newton Anderson went to his home's basement for another load of locally produced coal for the family fire. One large lump falls to the floor and splits along the seam and exposes an object hidden away in the mineral that formed roughly three hundred million years ago in the Carboniferous Era. It is a brass, hand-held bell!

The most distinguishing feature of the bell is the carved figure on its top. It is of a humanoid figure which appears to be in a kneeling position with wings and a beak. There was an iron clapper still attached to the inside of the bell. The object has changed hands since Mr. Anderson found it years ago. In 2007 it came into the hands of the newly constructed Institute for Creation Research and on display at the Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky. According to the Institute, the bell was delivered to the University of Oklahoma for analysis by the nuclear activation method. While it is brass, it is not the brass alloy that has been used by our civilization since at least the rise of the Sumerian culture some six thousand years ago. It has an unusual mixture of copper, zinc, tin, arsenic, iodine, and selenium.

Also to help verify the story behind the bell's discovery, the Institute solicited the services of a licensed polygraph expert to test Mr. Anderson about the finding of this unusual object. The examiner, Mr. L. Stan Fulmer of Davidson, North Carolina is a trained professional with over twenty-seven years experience performing polygraph tests for both the courts and private sector businesses. His findings were that Mr. Anderson was expressing no deception when he related his story.

The figure adorning the bell is an interesting study in the possibility of either an ancient pre-Adamic race as the founders of the Creation Institute believe or evidence of an ancient alien presence on our planet long before humanity emerged. Both theories are possible and could well be one and the same. The Sumerian legends of the Annunaki say that their planet Nibiru had already been captured in orbit around our sun before the Earth had restablized from its collision with Tiamat. It is therefore possible they were traveling to and exploring this planet long before the four hundred thousand year mark that Sumerian legend says was the time of their colonization.

It is known that the astronauts that piloted the Annunaki rockets were always depicted with wings and bird-headed helmets. Couldn't it be just as likely that the image is a depiction of one of these voyagers as it might be a "demon" from a mythology millions of years younger than the geological strata the bell was buried in? That this artifact ended up in what is now West Virginia in the North American continent is not so unbelievable. A people capable of interplanetary travel would have no trouble traveling anywhere on the planet. That this out of place and time artifact was even found after its long wait in the dark is a testament to the incredible potential for the amazing, whether terrestrial or of otherworldly origin.

Twentieth century archaeology uncovered a literary gold mine from the past when they excavated the massive library of clay tablets stored in the area that was once known as Sumeria in our current Middle East. Thousands of records written in cuneiform, possibly the first written human language, divulged a great storehouse of information, including much that on first look conflicted greatly with our understanding of our planet's past and our rise to dominance of the planet.

These records describe to gravitational capture of a rogue planet that had been traveling the depths of interstellar space for unknown eons. This planet, called Nibiru, turned out to be much more than a mere wayward rock. According to the Sumerian texts, this planet was inhabited by a race of virtually immortal beings that the Sumerians considered to be their gods. This intrusion was so far back in our solar system's history that planet Earth was said to be formed from the collision of two planetary bodies being knocked together by the gravitational disruption Nibiru caused by passing within the inner part of the system.

Whether due to the long voyage between the stars or because of damage to Nibiru during it's gravitational capture, its inhabitants needed the raw materials to fix the damage and maintain the internal heat of this "radiant" planet. As time passed they colonized the earth and began mining operations. While they took many materials, it was gold they most fervently sought for its electrical properties to heal the wounds in Nibiru's atmosphere.

Using the astronomical data about Nibiru that was presented in the Sumerian texts, astronomers used the "Infrared Astronomical Satellite" to scan the far reaches of our system to see if they could locate what was causing the wobble in the orbits of the outer planets. In the 1983-84 observations from this satellite’s data was discovered a planetary body immersed in to Oort cloud of debris on the edges of our star system. This planetary body fit the descriptions of a retrograde orbit that did not lie along the plane of the elliptic and was roughly where projected orbital calculations would put Nibiru at this time in history. While this discovery made news at first, it quickly became a buried subject that no one seemed to want to discuss.

Had they realized they had discovered the home planet of the ancient aliens that walked our Earth long before we even existed?
