Flying Rods Caught

There is a theoretical new and unique form of life now actively flying through the air in our environment. Some believe that they are all around us. So what are they? Is there any evidentiary support?

Some of the characteristics of these flying rods are quite intriguing. They are shaped like rods and can vary in size from just a few centimeters to many meters in length. They are zipping through the air at enormous speeds. They are nearly invisible to the naked eye, but can be captured via video or film. Some have appendages along the torso that resemble fins. And they do not appear to be mechanical, they seem to be alive and possibly have intelligence.

So, how have these Flying Rods caught the public attention? They brought into the public eye in 1994, thanks to filmmaker Jose Escamilla. He filmed some mysterious and unexplainable objects in Midway, New Mexico. On March 5, 1994 Escamilla filmed about 16 minutes of footage that contained UFOs. On March 19, 1994 he had the Flying Rods caught on film. This was the first recording of the phenomenon ever documented. Since then, many people have had these Flying Rods caught (or what they think are Flying Rods) on film, in pictures and videos.

Theory proponents say that there is no possibility that the Flying Rods can be known objects. All of the evidence centers around the photographs and the Flying Rods caught on tape and on film. There are also non-photographic pieces of evidence like ancient cave drawings that can be depicted as the Flying Rods. But, no one has the desire to make an active case for the evidence so it doesn’t get attended to much at all.

Since the evidence is based only upon the photographs and video, the theory of this phenomenon isn’t well supported because the evidence is flawed. With the motion-blue effect of “fins” on a Flying Rod is consistent an inset beating its wings very quickly.

After analysis of the footage, it is clear that the objects cannot possibly be as big as reported or they could easily be seen without the use of any specialized equipment. And in addition to that, it just isn’t possible for video to be able to capture something like that without being visible.

There is plenty of information to find online and in the media regarding the Flying Rods caught on tape and in photographs. In 2002 there was a television documentary called Rods! The documentary is produced and directed by John Moffet who was also responsible for such titles as Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon? (2001) and World's Scariest Ghosts: Caught on Tape (2000). The footage used in Rods!, primarily focuses on the video footage by Jose Escamilla. There are also interviews with Escamilla and various other rod researchers, along with mentions of other UFO reports.

This theory’s main problem is that these Flying Rods caught on tape and in video can easily be explained by naturally occurring phenomena; such as birds and insects. This theory, in short, just doesn’t “Fly.”

UFO Types - The Saucers

Despite the thousands of reports of unidentified flying objects made yearly around the world, there are a few commonalties in the sightings. Regardless of shape, many UFO's give off their own luminescence. This is thought to be caused by ionization of the air surrounding the surface or possibly vents on the craft. It is believed to work similarly to what occurs inside a neon light tube. This is usually of an orangish or yellow color when seen at night. It also explains the hazy, wavering appearance of UFO's during daylight.

By far the most common shape of a UFO is the ubiquitous "saucer" or "disk" shape. Often the craft will appear to have a flat bottom or a slightly convex hollow. These are the one's described as "hubcaps". Occasionally there will be a more pronounced upper hemispherical shape. A type of dome or "transparent cockpit" shape is reported on the top of the round, spinning craft. These "classic" flying saucers are the usual model for cartoons containing "little green men".

Other saucers show a less detailed shape. Many reports come in about the lenticular saucers that appear to be two shallow bowls glued together at the rim. They are usually dark, greyish to black and, like the 2006 O'Hara Airport sighting in Chicago, USA, can be described "like an M&M candy".

The "straw hat" flying saucers are generally described as being like a coin with a rim. Rising above this edge is usually a secondary superstructure that gives them their distinctly hat-like appearance. They have occasionally been reported as looking like two hats glued together at the rim. The bottom and top of these craft are generally very noticeably flat.

Falling into this category is also the anomalous "mushroom" shaped UFO's like the alleged "Gulf Breeze, Florida saucer. The bell-shaped saucers also fit here along with the ones that have been described as "an upside down coffee cup in a saucer".

These are generally the most maneuverable of all the unknown flying objects. They seem to be able to defy not only gravity but motion, speed and inertial forces as well. While they are known to hover quite well, they also are known for such amazing maneuverability as to rip a conventional craft to bits. They are usually described as rotating or spinning along their horizontal axis when seen close enough to detect the motion. On can only assume it is merely the outer rim that spins while the central core containing possible pilot and crew remains stable.

Flying Discs

Flying discs are a name assigned to unidentified flying objects known as UFOs. The name flying disc or flying saucer was invented in late 1940´th when there were reportings of flying saucer shaped objects. The term soon became poplar and the numbers of sightings increased drastically the following years and other names like the flying pie plate or the half moon shape flying object were also used.
The common belief of how alien spacecrafts looked like became very standardized around that time (primarily in the 50’th). Aliens were mostly believed to be Martians and their spacecrafts would be metallic disc shaped with running lights all the way around them. This was also the way UFOs were illustrated in comic magazines and in movies and the flying saucers were surrounded with mystery and stories. Later the flying discs or flying disk have been replaced by more advanced spacecrafts in movies and magazines. Therefore the flying saucer is mostly used ironically now days as a nostalgic view back to the 50’th.
But actually the disc shaped UFOs are not just a 1950’th phenomenon it goes way back. All the way back to the middle ages when saucer shaped objects were illustrated in biblical texts. It is not known if those illustrations have a deeper meaning or if they are indeed real flying saucer sightings.
Many believe that the flying discs are a part of human imagination, but despite of the lack of proves of their existence authorities have never ignored the fact that they actually might be real. Already in the 40th the air force began investigating UFOs and the many flying disc reportings. Those investigations with a professional assigned staff were a part of the air force up until the 70th. The case that enjoyed most attention from the public was the one from Roswell where the air force said they had found a flying disc which they stored in an old barn.
The flying saucers have inspired humans in different ways. People have always been fascinated by the disc’s manoeuvrability and there has been invested a lot of money in manufacturing real flying discs that could transport a human being. The army has been very interested in inventing high technology flying saucer shaped vehicles that could replace the jeep and the helicopter. But so far none have succeeded in producing any flying discs that could lift itself more than a few feet from the ground. Attempts on making unmanned flying discs have been more successful, now days mostly known from the toys category like the remote control flying saucer.
In spite of the fact that more people carry cameras like the cell phone cameras and digital cameras fewer flying disc sightings have been reported lately. It could be interpreted as the decreasing popularity of the flying saucers, but it could also be explained because of the many technologies we possess today that can reveal fake photos. Today UFO pictures are analyzed and mostly revealed as fake or just explainable (like natural hoaxes, clouds, birds, planes, balloons and so on), but that being said many photos have never been proven fakes.
