In one of the strangest twists since a UFO was found at the bottom of the Baltic Sea, an Austrian man claims he has discovered a UFO buried in a field. The man's name is Franz Knoglinger; he is a 47-year-old farmer.
Knoglinger made the incredible discovery on Sunday, March 11, 2012. He was looking for his lost cat Murlimann when he stumbled upon a perfectly round hole in the field. The hole was a staggering 25 feet deep.
Franz Knoglinger immediately recognized that there was something very unusual about that hole. In addition to its mere existence and remarkable depth, the hole contained a mysterious object.
Knoglinger believes that object is a UFO. Since he wasn't able to witness the unidentified object actually flying, his labeling the object a UFO obviously required a bit of speculation on his part.
With limited resources, the Austrian farmer decided to investigate the buried object the only way he could, according to The Huffington Post.
First, he threw a rock into the hole and observed that it made a satisfying metallic clunk when it made contact with the object. Then he lowered a large magnet into the hole, presumably with a long rope. He learned that the buried object was indeed metallic when the magnet stuck to it.
Franz Knoglinger enlisted the help of a local plumber who lowered a camera into the massive hole. Unfortunately, the camera failed to record anything once it reached the bottom.
Knoglinger told the Austrian Times that the buried object could be a spaceship. Hopefully, more research will be done and the object excavated from its resting place so that a positive identification may be made.
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY SURROUNDING UFO ENCOUNTERS AND SIGHTINGS
Over the years, many have regarded what is coined as paranormal activities, such as odd noises, telepathy, apparations, electronic malfunctions and many other anomalies to be associated with that subject exclusively and as being totally separate from UFO investigations. However, a recent review of the files and information for the past twenty years has shed some light and shown there there very likely is a possible connection between the two, with paranormal activity playing a significant role in experiencers' lives.
The term, HIgh Strangeness was coined by Dr. J. Allen Hynek and the defination at this time states that it is the inexplicable effects and synchronicity of events related to and occurring before, during, and after research missions, various Close Encounters or UFO/ETS sightings, some examples being encounters with unknown creatures, MIB's, and the infamous black helicopters often seen by experiencers after an event. High strangeness can include everything from a feeling of time distortion(time slowing down) to items appearing though no one has purchased them to strange unidentifiable footprints to shadow dogs in the moonlight...these and many other strange occurances appear to be somehow related to the UFO phenomena as time and again, events unfold that fall into this category.
Many experiencers have oddities happen that formarly were thought to be of the 'spirit world' but upon further analyzation, have some sort of connection to a sighting or an encounter as evidenced by this recent post in a popular forum:

'Is there anything you've noticed through daily living in your home concerning the presence of an ET, such as particular noises, electrical disturbances, sudden changes in temperature, chills, random television noises when it's off, etc? I feel as though my experience is connected with the odd things I've been sensing/hearing within my home, definitely in the living room when it is silent and in the early hours of the morning (before sunrise). Sometimes I feel as if something is moving about in my home as I go from room to room, and that there is something standing behind my television while I lay on my couch, but not noticeabley when directly looking at it. It's like this half-figure is two-dimensional when looking at it, but with my peripheral, it shows more outline, like it is a dimension of its own that we cannot interact with. But as I said, it just stands there, for hours. I've only started to notice this activity the last year or so.'
Some experiences are disturbing and dangerous, as is illustrated in the following story:
'I was laying in bed, my boyfriend had just gotten up to go to work. All of a sudden I hear an “oh F***” and a very loud electrical popping noise, I jumped up out of bed because it sounded almost like my boyfriend had been electricuted. I came into the kitched to find the stove was on fire. All electrical units in our stove had popped at the same time and were actually burning. It was really scarey, especially since we had our animals and our son all in the house! After we got the fire put out we went outside to go and smoke again. It was around 3:30am (my boyfriend works at a factory and wakes up at 3am to go to work.) I’m looking up in the sky above our house at a really bright star, when that star begins to move. Then it stopped again and hovered, then another appeared next to it, then they both crossed over our house. Needless to say I did not feel comfortable enough to go back to sleep after he left for work.'

An instance like this would have been formerly thought to be either some sort of purely 'paranormal' phenenomon or a very bizarre electronic malfunction. However, due to the fact that this occured right before the experiencer had an incredible sighting of a UFO, one can make a deduction that the two events are quite possibly related. Time and again we have seen that electronic surges have, at times, some sort of connection to UFO activity as demonstrated by the Great Blackout of NIagra Falls, New York in 1965. Originally thought to be an electronic malfunction, it was later determined that an actual power surge had occured from outside their power grid and from an unknown source. That same evening The Syracuse Herald-Journal was inundated with over 100 calls of UFO sightings in that area.
THE SKINWALKER RANCH
Probably one of the most convincing stories in connecting paranormal occurances to UFO activity is the famous Skinwalker Ranch located in Uintah county, Utah. In 1994 Tom Gorman(not his real name) and his wife bought the ranch, a sprawling area in the high dessert plains of Utah.
Picture of the Skinwalker Ranch - http://www.skinwalkerranch.org/media/albums/userpics/10001/normal_vue_generale.jpg
Soon after they arrived, it was obvious that this was no ordinary homestead. On the day that the Gormans moved their furnishings into the home, they encountered what they would later feel was a foreshadowing of events to come. a wolf, apparently tame, came up to the family and was affectionate; the animal behaved as a dometic canine might. The family stroked the animal and then without apparent cause, the wolf jumped a fence and began to attack one of the family's livestock. The family began to yell at the wolf, and when that did nothing, began to try to shoo the animal away with sticks. Now the livestpck that the wolf was attacking was bleeding and the family became frantic; Mr. Gorman took his shotgun anf fired at the animal, hitting it squarely, and even seeing flesh torn off. Still the animal did not stop it's ravaging of the stock...Mr. Gorman continued to shoot the wolf, each time fhe shot finding its mark, and yet the animal appeared unfazed, eventually loping off in a casual way, seemingly unharmed.
Sightings abound at the Skinwalker Ranch and the surrounding areas...Uintah county is well known for it's UFO activity and unusual traces of evidence found around or near sites. Here on this most unusual 'ranch', High Strangeness reaches new heights.

Strange Footprints at the Skinwalker Ranch
Though not all experiencers have such dramatic events as the Skinwalker Ranch, many report that some sort of 'oddness' will occur before or after a sighting, and it often shakes up the experiencer, and they seek feedback on the forums to confirm that they are not imagining these things. As these occurances continue to multiply, it gives us all pause to wonder how and why these things are connected...some appear quite 'personal' as if someone or something 'knew' what would upset the individual, while others are random things that do not appear to have any rationale behind it..
As the 'high strangeness' continues to grow, we can only observe and analyze these events, perhaps attempting to see if it is part of a bigger picture...
The 21st Annual International UFO Congress was held in Arizona last week. Excited UFO aficionados from around the world descended on the Fort McDowell casino to share stories, view UFO documentaries, watch the skies over Scottsdale and meet new people with common interests.
Among the items on display at the casino were statues of alien creatures that some alien abductees claim to have met. Many of those sculptures bore an uncanny resemblance. The small icons featured lots of elongated skulls, large dark eyes and small bow mouths. Some of them resembled praying mantises. Others seemed to have an Egyptian motif.
Many believers who attended the 21st Annual International UFO Congress brought along various relics, artifacts and souvenirs. Others were drawn to a film starring actor Dean Haglund.
With UFO sightings pouring into various reporting centers like MUFON and UFO Global Reporting Center on a daily basis, UFOlogy is receiving more attention than ever by the mainstream media. In fact, the recent UFO congress was covered by everyone from the Huffington Post to the Daily Mail. CNN correspondent Bryce Zabel was even in attendance. He spoke about the possible consequences of disclosure by the authorities.

There were some well-respected members of the community present at the event. Some of these honored guests included author and alien abductee Whitney Strieber and his wife Anne. The couple spoke about Strieber's otherworldly experience and his struggle with acceptance.
Chilean Air Force General (Ret.) Ricardo Bermudez was another distinguished guest and speaker at the congress. He is currently the director of the Committee of Studies of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena (or CEFAA), the official UFO research organization of Chile.
Lee Speigel was also present. He was honored at the event for his contributions to the field of UFOlogy and presented with the prestigious 2012 UFO Congress Researcher of the Year award.
An often disturbing event in the alien/UFO community, animal abductions and mutilations are on the rise this year, and the areas that are now being deemed 'hotspots' for UFO activity appear to be having a rash of these occurances. Though this is a somewhat 'distasteful' subject to some in the community, nevertheless it brings about strong emotions in experiencers and non-experiencers alike. While it may be easy to dismiss a witness's account of a sighting, one cannot dismiss the physical evidence of these events; namely that animals across the globe are being somehow damaged in a way that defies current scientific explanation.
Fossil records indicate that there is a possibility of animal abductions happening in ancient times becauase of the migration of some species to areas unobtainable by these animals. Several species from millions of years ago crossed oceans that were impossible to cross, unless they were somehow 'air-lifted'. For example, how did marsupials get from North America to Australia? How did monkeys get from Africa to South America? Evolution often happens too fast for Darwin’s theory and gaps in the fossil record indicate that some kind of unnatural force and possible genetic engineering might have acted together with natural selection.
Though the current phenomena of strange animal deaths and mutilations can possibly trace its roots back hundreds of years, it first came to the attention of the public and the media in the early 1960's with a rash of these surgically precise cuttings done on livestock, mainly cattle. Testimony from veterinary pathologists, law enforcement officials and cattle inspectors clearly distinguished animal mutilations from deaths of domestic and wild animals by infectious disease, predation, and other natural causes.
There are several indicators concerning these strange deaths, whereas there will generally be unexplained damage to any remaining organs, no trace of blood, no sign of damage to the surrounding area, a lack of of teeth or claw marks, and no obvious 'scavenging' by any known predators. While some animals are found lying on the ground, others are found draped over fences and treetops, their injuries consistent with being 'dumped' from a great distance. Sometimes the ground under the animal appears depressed, as if the animal was dropped on the site from a height high enough to leave an impact crater under the animal.
The situation is serious and sometimes apparently even involves harm to human beings:
By the mid 1970s, mutilated cattle were reported in 15 states, from Montana and South Dakota in the north, to New Mexico and Texas in the south.
Democratic senator Floyd K. Haskell contacted the FBI asking for help in 1975 due to public concern regarding the issue. He claimed there had been 130 mutilations in Colorado alone.[4]
In 1998, documented photographic evidence of a 1994 mutilation surfaced that involved a [5] human being outside of Sao Paulo, Brazil. An autopsy report concluded that the procedure occurred while the victim was still alive, and the associated pain resulted in cardiac arrest.

The occurances have been so widespread, that in in the United States, this has been the subject of two separate federal investigations.
A current video with Phil Hoyle of the Animal Pathology Forensic Unit in the U.K. discusses the matter further. In this presentation, there is footage of one the factors of the possible evidence of visitor related activity, namely burn marks which appear near or around where the animals were harmed.
In the story below it is shown that these burn or scorch marks are not a new event nor is the event of possible harm to a human being during it:
Faxinal de Sao Bras, Brazil
Date: 1940
Time: afternoon
9-year-old Sebastiana Roncador had gone to the goat pen in order to milk the animals when she noticed a strange luminous object resembling a “circus tent” on a nearby field. Curious she approached it and watch astonished as some type of “ladder” emerged from the object. The ladder moved in a way that it seemed to be “alive.” Soon several 1-meter tall creatures exited the object. The beings had a dark complexion with large frog like eyes, large round faces, large heads, huge pointy ears, and short necks. They wore tight fitting silvery outfits. The creatures approached the witness who ran frightened towards the house screaming. Her father ran out armed with a stick, which he threw at the creatures. These retreated back into the object. The craft then took off causing a huge cloud of dust to rise up and emitted flames from its bottom apparently burning the ground. At the site a black scorched circle was found and today nothing grows there. One of the goats was found apparently with a puncture wound and bleeding. The blood apparently coagulated and the animal died. Around the same time a local woman disappeared without a trace. Nothing was ever heard from her.
More evidence of visitor related activity to the events occuring to the animals is a picture captured by Phil Hoyle of a possible UFO which appeared over the same area as the deaths and surgical cuttings were taking place.

Though once thought confined to cattle or other livestock, these cases are now being found more and more in domestic animals, that is, the family pet. In Salt Lake City in 2003, a rash of cat mutilations occured, again with the same surgical cutting; these cases are still open, no 'cat serial killer' was found, but coincidentially, there were numerous UFO sightings in that area and other parts of Utah that year. Or consider the stories of several experiencers, who, upon waking from their encounter, would find their dog or cat dead...with no apparent cause. Several experiencers were lucky enough to actually see the damage inflicted as is evidenced by a story which occured over 50 years ago:
Location. Near Denbigh Castle, Clwyd, Wales
Date: March 1964Time: 0130am
The witness, Mrs. W, was up late studying when she heard her terrier dog yelping. She knew it was on the back patio and looked through the kitchen window to see him cowering beside a bush in clear distress. Rushing out, Mrs. W saw that a beam light was coming from the sky and enveloping the dog. She could not see a source. Reacting instinctively the woman picked up her pet and immediately felt a burning sensation as she touched the beam. Without looking upwards she fled indoors with the animal and noticed that her arm was burnt and remained in pain for some time. the dog also suffered discomfort from what she took to be skin burns that persisted for a short time.
Currently in a northwestern Montana town, there have been a rash of unexplained deaths of dogs; several of the animals reportedly died suddenly in their fenced yards while the owners were right inside the home. According to witnesses testimony, at least nine dogs have mysteriously died and other strange animal deaths are occuring, an example being of a wolf found 'draped' in a tree. Clearly this is not the work of some 'serial' animal killer. Prior to these incidents, there was possible UFO activity in the western skies.
Many experiencers have discussed missing pets, pets dead for no apparent reason, strange 'marks' that appear almost surigically done, yet the anuimal has had no such surgery in that particular area. It appears that the evidence is strong that there is a very possible connection to UFO activity and these animal 'experiements', if that's what they indeed are. Yet why hurt an experiencer's or other's animals and in such numbers? We all know and understand the concept of using animals to further medical knowledge, but in this case, a very large number of animals appears to be necessary for this 'research'. Too many animals are dying under mysterious circumstances which begs the question of, if the visitors are indeed taking these animals, then, why, if they are so advanced, do they need so many? And why primarily the experriencer's animals? Or, as some might suggest, does it have to do more with the experiencer and the effect on them that in any interest in the actual pet.
Whatever the reason, as more and more animal deaths are reported worldwide, and more sightings coincide with these occurances, it may be prudent to not only watch the skies, but to watch your animals, also....
A most unusual UFO was reported in Carrickfergus in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. According to the witness, the UFO resembled Buzz Lightyear from the animated movie Toy Story.
The witness, known only as D. Flower, told the Belfast Telegraph that he saw a light out of the corner of his eye on the evening of February 24, 2012. The light was outside his bedroom window. The time was approximately 8:15 p.m.
Upon further examination, the witness saw that the object was moving slightly, and it was too bright to be a star. That's when his sister grabbed a camera and took a picture.
Here's the amazing thing. The UFO in the picture has a strange resemblance to Buzz Lightyear, the Toy Story character named after famous astronaut Buzz Aldrin.
It may take a little bit of imagination, but looking at the picture of the Northern Ireland UFO does conjure up images of the toy astronaut with one arm outstretched and the other arm trailing behind.
The witness does not believe the object can be explained by an airplane or a satellite.
Most UFOs that are caught on camera tend to fit into the typical unidentified flying object categories: glowing orbs, flying saucers, and cigar-shaped craft. That's what makes the UFO sighting of February 24 so unusual.
Of course, everyone knows that it wasn't Buzz Lightyear sailing through the dark night sky over Northern Ireland. So, what was it? Unfortunately, the identity of this celestial object remains a mystery.
In or around 1947 through December of 1969, the branch of the Air Force of the United States of America routinely looked into and investigated UFO reports and sightings. The investigation, called Project Blue Book was established at a government level and was put into place to evaluate the phenomena of Unidentified Flying Objects.
During that 22 year period, the project team investigated a reported 12,618 sightings of unidentified objects. Out of that impressive number, only seven hundred one of the sightings remained unidentified. It has been reported that the investigations of the Unidentified Flying Objects were lacking in professionalism and scientific methodology which brings into questionable authenticity.
In January 1970, Project Blue Book was officially closed and all records and files were transferred to Maxwell Air Force Base. At that time, the records were put on public view at request only and five years later were transferred to microfilm and placed in the public archive for public use. Before making them openly available, all references to witnesses was blacked out or removed to protect the privacy of the public, although in years past, the documents were unchanged. In 1998, a set that had not been redacted was discovered that contained all the information including some documents that did not exist in the archives.
Why would previously open documents suddenly be evaluated and have certain key pieces of evidence removed before making them public property? Was there something in those documents that the Government did not want leaked to the general public?
Many UFO researchers are convinced that the investigations were conducted in an unscientific fashion and that the goal was to label findings as identified to avoid public hysteria. This ideology has been given support by the subsequent release of CIA documents about UFOs that suggest that any evidence contrary to an identified sighting were passed to authorities but never included in project blue book.
Dr. J. Allen Hynek served as the astronomical consultant to the United States Air Force and worked in Project Blue Book. Dr. Hynek was a professor of astronomy at Ohio State and the chairman of the astronomy department at Northwestern. His role with project blue book was to assist in the determination of astronomical explanations for any UFO sightings.
Hynek was an initial skeptic of UFOs but hundreds of UFO reports later became convinced that the phenomenon deserved serious study. Hynek became disillusioned at the casual handling of scientific evidence and the non-scientific manner in which the projects were being ran. After Project Blue Book closed, he formed a private organization to study UFOs that was staffed with scientists and trained technical experts. In 1972, Dr. Hynek wrote and published, The UFO Experience: A Scientific Study, that presented his categorization of sightings.
The incomplete case files in Project Blue Book are categorized as being mishandled and poor document maintenance. Copies of other “missing cases” reported as lost by Project Blue Book have been discovered in certain other files from other organizations. Copies of some of the missing files have been found at CUFOs. Is it worth noting that these missing files had indeed been kept by the very researcher contracted to research UFOs? Perhaps Dr. Hynek considered the documents important to prove something that was being hidden.
Does this evidence of the poorly handled files and document management point to a larger cover up in the Government regarding Unidentified Flying Objects and evidence of extraterrestrial beings? Government cover ups and misinformation have always been tossed around concerning UFOs and extraterrestrials. Perhaps the evidence and lack of evidence in Project Blue Book is just another piece of the conspiracy worth noting.
The Earth has many wondrous artifacts associated with or suspected to be the result of some ancient technology. These technologies often appear to be beyond the capabilities of modern man of the time so it is suspected that they are brought here or created by aliens from another world. One such location is the Carnac Stones that are located in Carnac, France.
The Stones of Carnac are an enormous collection of gigantic rocks that have been set in place in specific and deliberate configurations. Some of the configurations resemble lines and rows while others are fan like shapes.
The Carnac configurations themselves, when taken as a whole resemble a series of triangles that make up a complex mathematical formula known as the Pythagorean Theorem.
Another interesting issue around the configuration of the stones is the complex calculations needed and the timeline of the placement.
The timeline for the age of the Carnac Stones put them at about 3300 BC which place creation of the stones during the time of Stone Age Man. Since Pythagoras did not discover the Pythagorean Theory until 530 BC it is improbable that Stone Age Man possessed the capability necessary to determine the calculation and create the shapes necessary to complete the complexity of the Pythagorean Theorem. Based on the size of the stones and the limited tools available to Stone Age man, it is also unlikely that they were able to erect the stones
Researchers have not determined the exact function of the Carnac Stones. The stones could be signs or even burial chambers for some ancient race. The Carnac Stones have structures within the configuration that could have been ancient tombs or burial chambers. These chambers are known as dolmens and were created with upright stones and contain both the burial chamber and access to the chamber.
The Carnac Stones might even have been used to guide alien spacecraft as they are one of three structures which can be seen from space. There is research also being done on possible astronomical components of the structures. The Carnac Stones are located at the latitude at which the solstice sun in winter and summer forms a Pythagorean triangle not unlike other complex sites such as Boyne Valley and Silbury Hill which show orientations to the solstices as well.
Is this site evidence that ancient aliens came to our planet and gave our ancient ancestors some knowledge and wisdom of technology or guidance from other worlds?
As we come up to the fiftieth anniversary of the famous Betty and Barney Hill alien abduction event, this baffling phenomena is due a closer look. Do we have enough information to even give a competent guess as to the motives behind the phenomena? Are these reported events even extraterrestrial in nature?
Reports of attempts by UFO crews to grab humans are not particularly new. One of the earliest reported cases was from Stockton, California in 1897 when Colonel H.G. Shaw and a companion were harassed and had to fight off three tall, humanoid beings that had emerged from a circular aircraft as the men were traveling in the mountains. However, the incidence of "alien abductions" did not begin to pick up in earnest until the 1960's. "Alien abductions" are a worldwide phenomena although most reports, over 95%, do occur in the English speaking countries of the world, most notably the United States.
There are several primary beliefs as to what may be behind these terrifying events; and terrifying they are as medical "experiments" and the helplessness of capture by unknown entities are consistent throughout the abduction phenomena. One theory involves the possibility that we are being harvested for our genetic material. It is thought that either the aliens need to rejuvenate their own kind or that they require a crossbred variety of themselves that can more easily live on this planet or pass undiscovered among us.
Another school of thought is that the supposed aliens are, in fact, actually another terrestrial species that has chosen to remain aloof from humans. It is speculated that these creatures are the basis for the old myths of "elves" and "fairies;" other mysterious creatures that have a history of abducting humans for their own nefarious means. The more theologically minded feel these creatures are actually demons of some sort who are attempting to steal a victim's soul instead of capturing them for physical genetic material.
Another theory that is quite popular is that rather than alien beings, the abductors are really humans from the future. It is believed that at some point humanity will have become genetically impoverished and have had to develop a way to replenish their diminished viability with genetic material from a distant past relative.
Various anomalous objects removed from abductees
The one fact that is incontrovertible is that we have no way of knowing which, if any, of the above scenarios is actually the cause of abduction reports. We know that many people report experiencing this phenomenon. We know that they have similar psychological problems develop from their experience. There are cases where it seems physical evidence is left, both as scars and as metallic "implants" left in their bodies. Many thousands of people merely "disappear" every year. It cannot all be explained as runaways or serial killers. When some of these people come back and report about what happened to them, it does behoove us to pay a bit more attention. Something is happening to them and it is a serious matter.
The more one researches the potential for extraterrestrial encounters between aliens and humans, the greater the probability that such encounters have been happening for a very long time. In our modern age of technology, we have the advantage of cameras, video, and instant communications to spread the word about strange and mysterious objects in our sky. While skeptics try to claim that UFO's and extraterrestrials are only a byproduct of our technological society, there are indications from the ancient past that UFO's and aliens were real and were here even before we developed a written language or more than primitive cultures. Even before language there was art, and it is through art that our distant ancestors handed down depictions of strange things which are still mysterious, but hauntingly familiar, to what we still see today.
The first recorded images of alien beings can be found in ancient cave paintings and petroglyphs from various places around the world. The first example dates to a period between 12-14,000 years ago and comes from Toro Muerto, in Peru. The images depict humanoid beings with some type of "halo" or other head covering. From it radiate lines that could be representative of either extensions of the object or light. It is very interesting to compare these images to another cave painting dated from about 10,000 years ago that was found in Val Camonica, Italy. These two humanoid figures also wear similar objects around their heads and also have the lines radiating outward. There was no travel between these two places on opposite sides of the planet 10-14,000 years ago, at least not by humans.
Around 5,000 or so years ago Sumerian culture in Mesopotamia had developed a culture that still affects and models our modern way of thinking. They credited this culture and knowledge to their "gods" alien beings that had come down from the sky to create and nurture them as they grew as a species.
Dating back to this same general time period are petroglyphs found outside Kimberley, Australia that also depict humanoid creatures with huge eyes and lines sometimes still radiating from their heads. Of note in this image is the clothing worn by the images. Compare it to some of the costume of the figures carved into the rock of Sego Canyon, Utah also about 5,000 years ago.
According to legends passed down from thousands of years ago by the indigenous tribes of the American Southwest, The 1947 UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico was hardly the first spacecraft to have a mishap in the desert. The legend says that two objects collided in the sky and one crash landed in what is now known as Death Valley. Another craft later descended and "men" from that craft helped fix the one that had crashed before they both took off back into the sky. It is interesting to note that the millenniums-old pictures the native Americans carved into the rock depict objects that can still be seen to often confound modern man and occasionally show up on You-Tube.
With such ancient evidence lurking all around the planet and through many ages of humanity, it is not hard to believe that these supposedly extraterrestrial beings have been coming to Earth and interacting with humans for a very long time. They may not even be that far away. Even discounting the idea of Nibiru, there are a number of planets in our solar system. From the multitude of reports of UFO's rising out of the oceans, they may have permanent colonies on our planet. Even if their origins were from another planet around another star, they could well have been here so long that they and many of their generations could have been born (or hatched, or cloned) right here. However "alien" they may be, from these ancient UFO reports we can conjecture, they might be just as much Earthlings as we humans are.
Dr. Sitchin, at fist glance, is an unlikely seeming candidate to be included in the ranks of alien investigators. He did not seek out witnesses to UFO sightings or probe the night skies with binoculars. First and foremost he was a scholar of ancient languages and stories. His particular forte was Sumerian, Akkadian, and the ancient Mesopotamian iconography. He was one of only a handful of scholars who could read and translate the cuneiform writing of the Sumerian clay tablets archeologists had only begun to discover. The tales he read fascinated him with their similarity to many more current texts and legends, myths and religions.
Dr. Sitchin's translations were considered high academic achievement. He did not begin to gather controversy around him until he began to write about his interpretation of these ancient texts; interpretations that flew in the face of accepted academic beliefs in the origins of our species and our place in evolution.
It the texts the Sumerians wrote of their "gods" as beings who originally came down from the sky. Travelling from their home planet, Nibiru, these extraterrestrials colonized and lived on this planet long before humans even existed. As a colony sent to mine mineral resources from the planet, these beings, the Annunaki, eventually grew tired of toiling so menially themselves and demanded their leaders find a better solution. According to the writings of the Sumerians, we humans were the result of that demand. Using advanced genetic knowledge, the scientists of the Annunaki blended their own DNA with an indigenous primate species to create the first humans to work the mines for their alien masters.
Within a series of twelve books, Dr. Sitchin presented his evidence, garnered from both literature and architecture to demonstrate the validity of his theories that the Sumerians were not writing fantasy but chronicling the knowledge and events that took place in their lives under the auspices of their extraterrestrial overlords. From the, as yet, unduplicable technology that raised monolithic structures around the world to complex and inexplicable "out of place artifacts in relation to time and space" (OOPARTS), to astronomical tables containing information a primitive, non-technological civilization could not have known about; the Annunaki seem to have left a huge legacy to their human creations.
Since releasing his interpretations of the texts he translated, Dr. Sitchin's work has created an entirely new and very popular aspect to the UFO-extraterrestrial mythos. In looking at the wider picture, there is a great amount of circumstantial evidence that there may be a great deal of possible truth to these theories and interpretations. Dr. Sitchin's work has disturbed the entire academic belief system, so much so that it is becoming fashionable to debunk or ridicule all his work even on the basis of a very few points where misinterpretation may have occurred. It is so important for academia to discredit Dr. Sitchin that even on his Wikipedia page there is far more information about scholars and pseudo scholars and their efforts to debunk his work that there is information about the man himself.
The New York Times devoted a page to a 'profile' article on Zecharia Sitchin in its Sunday, January 10, 2010 edition
Where there is smoke, there is usually a fire. From the sheer numbers of academics attempting to debunk Dr. Sitchin's theories it would seem that he struck a nerve with his challenge to their "official" story of humanity's origins and their failure to acknowledge any of the multitude of facts and artifacts that do not fit their version. Even as science is discovering more about the solar system that the ancient Sumerians seemed to have already known, it is worth reading through the rather dry text of Dr. Sitchin's books. If any of this information about the Annunaki that came from ancient Sumeria is true then we may soon be facing a reunion with an alien race that could well have valid reasons for considering our planet, if not our entire species, as their own property.
