The UFO-mystery in Roswell is still a mystery.

60 years ago something fell down ostensibly an UFO at a farm close to the air base Roswell in the US.

The town of Roswell has for some time been exploiting the rumours of the UFO crash and has many UFO exhibitions.
At a time between the 4. and 6th of July 1947 something suspicious fell down near a farm in the American state New Mexico.
The farmer Mack Brazel found some pieces of wreckage, which he reported about to the local sheriff.
He informed captain Jesse Marcell from the military air base Roswell, who is situated in the neighbourhood.
The farmer had as a matter of fact said that the pieces of wreckage resembled isolated parts from a test plane, the BBC writes.
It however wasn't parts from a military test plane, which had fallen on the ground.
The captain from the air base sent out a press release, which informed that the army had picked up an UFO.
The case is later blacked out and mysteriously that press release was later drawn back.
The new official line was, according to General Roger Ramsey who took over the case that the episode had involved a weather balloon and consequently not an UFO as captain Marcell had claimed earlier.
Later captain Marcell participated in an interview on a local radio. Here he said that he had shown that the pieces of wreckage originated from a weather balloon all the time.
Speculations continue though According to the American Ministry of Defence the weather balloon is still the official explanation.
However, everybody by no means believe that version, and the conspiracy theories are numerous.
A large group of human beings think that the weather balloon was an UFO from outer space in the reality, and a number of theories maintain that the army - apart from the UFO's physical parts - saved three or four - ostensibly dead - aliens.

What happened with the pieces of wreckage or the aliens has never been revealed, but is still a very discussed subject.

In Roswell there is a museum, where you can learn more about the episode and other mysterious events.
