Project Blue Book

In or around 1947 through December of 1969, the branch of the Air Force of the United States of America routinely looked into and investigated UFO reports and sightings. The investigation, called Project Blue Book was established at a government level and was put into place to evaluate the phenomena of Unidentified Flying Objects.

During that 22 year period, the project team investigated a reported 12,618 sightings of unidentified objects. Out of that impressive number, only seven hundred one of the sightings remained unidentified. It has been reported that the investigations of the Unidentified Flying Objects were lacking in professionalism and scientific methodology which brings into questionable authenticity.

In January 1970, Project Blue Book was officially closed and all records and files were transferred to Maxwell Air Force Base. At that time, the records were put on public view at request only and five years later were transferred to microfilm and placed in the public archive for public use. Before making them openly available, all references to witnesses was blacked out or removed to protect the privacy of the public, although in years past, the documents were unchanged. In 1998, a set that had not been redacted was discovered that contained all the information including some documents that did not exist in the archives.

Why would previously open documents suddenly be evaluated and have certain key pieces of evidence removed before making them public property? Was there something in those documents that the Government did not want leaked to the general public?

Many UFO researchers are convinced that the investigations were conducted in an unscientific fashion and that the goal was to label findings as identified to avoid public hysteria. This ideology has been given support by the subsequent release of CIA documents about UFOs that suggest that any evidence contrary to an identified sighting were passed to authorities but never included in project blue book.

Dr. J. Allen Hynek served as the astronomical consultant to the United States Air Force and worked in Project Blue Book. Dr. Hynek was a professor of astronomy at Ohio State and the chairman of the astronomy department at Northwestern. His role with project blue book was to assist in the determination of astronomical explanations for any UFO sightings.

Hynek was an initial skeptic of UFOs but hundreds of UFO reports later became convinced that the phenomenon deserved serious study. Hynek became disillusioned at the casual handling of scientific evidence and the non-scientific manner in which the projects were being ran. After Project Blue Book closed, he formed a private organization to study UFOs that was staffed with scientists and trained technical experts. In 1972, Dr. Hynek wrote and published, The UFO Experience: A Scientific Study, that presented his categorization of sightings.

The incomplete case files in Project Blue Book are categorized as being mishandled and poor document maintenance. Copies of other “missing cases” reported as lost by Project Blue Book have been discovered in certain other files from other organizations. Copies of some of the missing files have been found at CUFOs. Is it worth noting that these missing files had indeed been kept by the very researcher contracted to research UFOs? Perhaps Dr. Hynek considered the documents important to prove something that was being hidden.

Does this evidence of the poorly handled files and document management point to a larger cover up in the Government regarding Unidentified Flying Objects and evidence of extraterrestrial beings? Government cover ups and misinformation have always been tossed around concerning UFOs and extraterrestrials. Perhaps the evidence and lack of evidence in Project Blue Book is just another piece of the conspiracy worth noting.

The title is a bit deceiving: rather than an overt comparison of religion to aliens, it is a comparison of the fanaticism from zealots of religion, to that of the fanaticism from zealots of the alien culture.  It’s a bit of a challenge being an observer of this scenery (the alien culture): most of what is available for knowledge or for entertainment or for reinforcement is unsubstantiated; a large portion of that is completely fabricated.  Regardless of personal experiences and knowledge, some people fabricate stories to strengthen the case for aliens and extraterrestrial existence.

True believers don’t need fakery to enhance their perception or understanding of these things: they know what they believe.  But there is a type of person in existence that will try to persuade others to believe their beliefs at any cost.  Perhaps it is to prove a point; maybe it is to rationalize their personal beliefs; maybe for comfort; maybe because they have an axe to grind, but whatever the reason, it exists.

It makes it hard for those who are true believers and want to find out more information and gain the respect of the scientific and mainstream communities, as they are discredited every time a new hoax comes out or another story is disproven.  Every time that a bad youtube video comes out or a lie is perpetuated through local resources the task gets tougher to convince others that aliens do exist.

These zealots would have the mainstream believe that what they portray is real; but in reality, they don’t make money per se, or gain fame necessarily, they simply want to show people that which cannot be denied.  But the truth is out there, and with the far reaching avenues like the internet available to the public, it is not both easier to share “alien experiences” and have them disproven regardless of what really happened.

Invariably a good hoax will be disproven at some point, as the technology now has finite limitations and access to this technology exists everywhere.  It is not the same as catching a fuzzy figure on 8mm tape in the late 1970’s or an unclear 110 exposure on camera of a series of lights in a dark sky, or even several eyewitness accounts.  Now if you fake something, the digital signature sometimes is enough to give you away.  Even with incredible planning, some part of the story is bound not to match up, and a fake account will be exposed to discrediting.  Cell phone cameras have so much more capability than even the best commercial cameras did 15 years ago; video has lost the ability to be manipulated without telltale signs of editing.  In all, there is not as much leeway to make something staged as it was some years ago.  Truth seekers have availability to technologies to debunk hoaxes.

There have been many instances of videos that look real, and seem legit, but have inaccuracies or awkward poorly thought out premises and concerns.  What little hope they bring to an alien culture enthusiast or firsthand believer, is quickly removed when they stark reality and the element of doubt creeps in because someone behaved like an amateur.

For example: a video is floating around about a Siberian alien found in the snow and it is awkwardly realistic.  But the setting and the obvious filming mistakes make it easily recognizable as a hoax.  The man filming, makes a sweep to his friend and then a much farther sweep all the way in the opposite direction.  He then essentially picks up a dark spot in the snow many yards ahead of his position and zooms in on it to reveal that it is an alien body.  Two seconds of camera time on his friend, then immediately to a figure in the snow some distance and then he zooms in on it to reveal that it is a very intact Alien body half buried in the snow and ice.  He then focuses on the alien for one minute more and the video ends.  And the holder of the camera uploads it to youtube without contacting authorities and figuring out what else he can do to prove that the “alien” is actually that: an alien?  No follow up to show the body removed, or to prove that it is anything more than a latex casting of a well thought out alien resembling puppet.  Certainly it has a believable subject, as the alien is quite a specimen, but the unrealistic “chance” capturing of it on video when he pans straight to it and zooms in, makes it much less reasonable.  No substantiation videos to prove that it wasn’t just a staged piece of footage, no back story to speak of, and not full removal of the body to show that it is hardened and stiff from the ice, or that it is real in its natural movements or composition.

This is just one example, and certainly cannot be proven easily to be real or fake, but it certainly seems unrealistic.  Such a find if real, would certainly warrant a further more detailed investigation of the capturing of video to support it.

This is just one example of an unfair piece of “evidence” which falls flat in the argument that aliens do exist.  It simply distances the truth that much farther from the audience it seeks to persuade.  When someone actively perpetuates an alien encounter of any kind that is not truthful, it weakens the core of evidence in existence, and it makes fools of those who champion it in its early stages, such that their credibility outside of the internet forums of believers is nonexistent.

One day we as believer all hope that the truth comes out in an inexcusable and unchallengeable way, but we should not lower ourselves to fabrications to gain momentum or believers, it’s unnecessary and only hurts the cause.  The truth will one day be undeniable.  Will you be one who can hold their head up high to say “I told you so!” without having resorted to fakery?

Sanskrit stories depict references to flying craft called Vimanas that bear great similarities to accounts by people who report seeing UFOs.

Ancient alien researchers suggest that beings from other worlds have visited Indian during earlier times. A Vimanas is an ancient flying machine of Indian lore that can be compared to our atmospheric craft and that also have the ability to higher. This lore is common within the ancient Indian writings.

The stories refer to them as being able to fly in space, the atmosphere and to travel within the ocean. Indian references often refer to them being used in war as well. Descriptions in the Vedic Sanskrit and in later writings describe the Vimanas in differing shapes and in different sizes. In the Vedas, several Vedic Gods are transported by such flying chariots but being pulled by animals.

Sanskrit texts are rich with stories of their Gods fighting battles in the sky using Vimanas as deadly as those we have in modern times. A passage in the Ramayana reads that the Pushpaka chariot resembling the sun was brought by Ravana the demon king of India. The King Rama entered the vehicle and rose into the air.

These stories are not without reference and companion accounts from other civilizations as well and are not isolated.

They can be compared to similar reports in other civilizations.
In Mesopotamian, the Hakatha, which contains Babylonian law, states that the ability to have the privilege to operate a flying machine is one that only few possess. Flight is the most ancient of their heritage and is a gift from those on high. Flight was received as a means of saving many lives.

The ancient Chaldean work, Sifrala, contains greater than 100 pages of technical details on building a machine that flies. It contains translations of advanced building materials and methods used to build space craft.

Did ancient ancestors possess the capability to fly? If so, where did they get the technology? The answers seem to point to beings from on high or from other races giving ancient civilizations the freedom of flight. Flying vessels from ancient times are found in archaeology as well.

Many UFO researchers of UFO lore do not acknowledge an important fact. Most flying saucers are thought to be alien or perhaps military craft from the government. The bulk of our knowledge of ancient Indian flying craft comes from India written in texts that have been passed down through the ages.

There is no doubt that most of these texts are real; most ancient Indian Epics are well known and there are hundreds of writings that have not even been translated into English.

Indian Emperor Ashoka began a secret society of nine unknown men. All of them were great and powerful scientists that were to capture the many sciences. Ashoka maintained secrecy for fear that the advanced science would be used for war. These sciences were ancient knowledge and each one of the scientists wrote one book on the secrets of gravitation.

This book is known but has not been and is reported to be held in secret in India.

It is kept in a secret library in India somewhere to maintain secrecy. Secrecy would be important in the event that the actual knowledge of levitation was contained within the book. Ashoka concerned with wars using advanced vehicles and other weapons that laid waste to the ancient Indian "Rama Empire".

Recently the Chinese found documents in Tibet and sent them to a leading University for translation. Dr. Ruth Reyna of the university claimed that the documents were filled with instructions for building flying spacecraft.
